Topic: Thanks and Prayers!
Okay, in a few hours I will be in the hospital post op and I want to say thanks to those of you who emailed me your kind thoughts and many prayers. Please keep them up, because it has helped me so much to stay calm and focused on the journey I am on.
I know that we are all at different places in our journey but we are all heading toward the same destination............a life free of weight related health problems. Because of this forum and all of you, I feel supported and loved like no other. I appreciate your posts and suggestions and questions and cheers not just for me but for all of us.
I think you are all wonderful and I thank you so much for being here. I'll talk to you when I am home and sitting on the loser's bench!
Big hugs,
Carol

Hi Deb,
Welcome to our friendly abode! :-)
I know there is a support group once a month..............the first Tuesday of the month from 6-7 (I'm pretty sure that's the time) at UIHC in Iowa City. It's a pretty decent group from what I understand. I haven't been able to go that last few months but hope to get there in March. I hope you'll check it out. Check them all out and find one you like................that's the key! Someone probably can tell you more than I did about this group so anyone out there that wants to chime in, please do.
I have three kids too and live in Eastern Iowa near Dubuque. Welcome and post often. We learn from each other and help each other on here.

Thanks to all of you. I am really excited and no nerves yet. Some people at work asked me today if I was nervous and I told them that I have struggled so long with my weight that it's more excitement than nerves that I feel. This just seems to surreal to me because I have tried and failed at so many diets................like I'm sure many of you have done as well. Probably when I am hopping on to the operating table, I will feel nervous, but only because I don't know what to excpect.
Just about 36 hours from now and I'll be on that operating table so I'll know what to expect before long.
Thanks for your support and well wishes. I am grateful for all of you!

Welcome!!!
The meeting in CR is the 2nd Thursday of the month at Mercy, it's usually advertised in the PennySaver. The meeting starts at 5:30, goes about 2 hours and then the group goes out for dinner for whomever wants to go. The one in Iowa City is the 1st Tuesday of the month at the U of I hospital, and it starts at 6, goes about an hour. The one at the U is more structured and has a primary focus monthly. The one at Mercy is peer ran, and is a no-holding back zone. Everyone will be very honest and frank and not beat around the bush. I think they are both great resources, so I go to both!

The time realy does fly by. Congrats. Like others said sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk. Those are the two best things you can do. Keep us updated on how you're doing.

Thanks. I've been using some hyrodcortizone cream and most of the rash is gone. The incisions still itch horribly. I will be calling about that.
