Thanks for your help and suggestions.  I think I'll check with Amy, like you mentioned, Jenn.  If I can have toast with peanutbutter, I think I'll be okay and this stinking craving will hopefully go away.

This is the place to come when one has questions so thank you, thank you, thank you for being here for me!

Congratulations, Cheryl!  That time will go so fast and you'll be post-op before you know it.  Definitely sending positive thoughts and many prayers your way.  Keep us posted on the progress of things!

Hugs,
Carol

They are submitting my paperwork to the insurance company for approval.  So send those positive thoughts/prayers!!! Hopefully it will not take too long to find out and then be on my way.  Once approved I have my typical pre-op testing to complete and a cardio clearance, so hoping for an early May date at the latest...

Hi Carol!!

I believe i was 7 weeks and on "Soft Foods" when Amy emailed me and told me I could have toast, soft tacos, and pita bread.  I havent tried the pita bread because it looks thick to me.  I like the Sara Lee 45 and Delightful Wheat with Honey bread and I eat peanut butter on it (ive used regular or PB2 for less calories) or cinnamon and splenda and for tortillas I like the La Tortilla Factory Low Carb small tortillas they are wheat.  They are 50 calories and 5 gr of protein.  Ive used them for turkey tacos, chicken wraps and tuna salad wraps.

I hope this helps!! If you have any questions email or call Amy, but im positive that its ok for you now!!

This is just my attitude and maybe it will help. I didn't put this weight on overnight so I don't expect to take it off overnight. If over the long term I continue to lose weight, even 1-2 lbs a week or 2 weeks then I'm happy. If you look at 2-3 lbs per month thats 24 -35 lbs a year.

One idea is to put a picture before having surgery on your fridge... look at it every day and just think how far you have come!!!! How much better you feel, think of all the positives.

I'm about 14 weeks or so post-op (Dec 15) believe you will always get those "cravings" for different foods and always will, and they're different for all of us. I believe having anything in small "moderation" isn't bad. In fact I'd read that somewhere. just my .02 and hope that helps.

Carol,

Thanks for the wecolme and calming words!!  I am sure you are right that I will do just fine, but I still worry, that's just how I am

Has anyone on the board had a DS as opposed to Lap Band or Bypass?  I was wondering how that went, as someone suggested that I look into DS b/c of my higher BMI...

Thanks again for the warm welcome!

Topic: RE: Anyone a lap band patient of David Coster, in Grinnell, Iowa??
I'm a patient of Dr. Coster's but had lap RNY.  With regard to the program and staff at Surgical Associates and the Grinnell Regional Medical Center, I have been very impressed.  I had (and continue to have) an excellent experience.

I am almost seven weeks post-op now and having the worst craving for toast with peanutbutter.  This is the first real craving I've experienced and it is so wierd!  Anyone else out there experiencing the same thing about this time post-op?  Just wondering.
