Topic: 100 for 100!
Hi everyone!
Since the weather is warming up and it'll soon be time for those summer activities, I thought I'd post this little challenge to all. Let's see if we can come up with 50 activities that burn 100 calories at a minimum if you do them for 30 minutes. These can be indoor or outdoor activities. Let's see how long it takes us to come up with 100!! (I'm not even going to list one now so that I take someone's idea from them.)
Go!

Hello. I did not have the lap band, but I can remember the wait before my RNY and it was full of excitement for the end of the sadness and frustration with my weight! I see that Dr. Cahalan is your surgeon. He is my super hero! :) He didn't even do my surgery, but he did an emergency hernia repair on me after I had my daughter 3 years ago, and because of his gastric bypass surgery skills he knew exactly what was going on and he fixed me up good! I work in the building next to the new Mercy in West Des Moines and I see him over there every once in a while. I freak out like a teen seeing Elvis or something. At any rate, he will take excellent care of you. He kind of comes off as being a little high and mighty, but I've found that you really want that in a surgeon. Best of luck!!! :)

1) Where are you located? Des Moines
2) Which WLS did you have OR do you plan to have? RNY hoping for sooner rather than later
3) What was/is your biggest motivation for having WLS? Hubby & I at the end of the line with infertility treatments and so it is now my turn to get my body back and start living my life again
4) What was/is your biggest reservation about WLS?
That surgery doesn't work and I and that I am stuck
5) Do you have a 'life motto' that keeps you going?
If you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything!

1- Traveling for wor****il mid July, then I'm in Des Moines.
2- I am working toward the lap band.
3- My size is starting to make life choices for me, not me making the choices.
4- That it will only be temporary, and that I can't do it on my own without needing the surgery.
5- Work hard, play hard.

Yeah! badgers. Apparantly there was something different about my pelvis than they were accustomed to encountering. Like a trick pelvis or something. I thought I had made them aware that I had some pelvic bone issues. My legs come out of their sockets rather like a bird's legs do. It's because of a spinal condition spondylolethesis. When I review my surgical records they just put down patient has a surgical correction in 1984 for "some sort "of spinal condition " so they probably didn't focus on my groin and legs and how legs jut out differently than a normal person's do and that they would need to leave more skin to accomodate hooking my forward directed legs to my belly. There is just not enough groin to go around now. These things happen. This surgery LBL is extremely complicated. They must have learned a lot since then (2001) about how to avoid having this happen. That's why it's called " Practice of Medical Arts" there is a lot of practice involved and practice makes perfect.

I clicked on your name leechetta to view your photos. Your groin area looked much better before the lift. It seems something must have gone terribly wrong during your procedure. It , ie., your groin area, looks totally decimated like it was clawed out by badgers. Ssshheesh!!!!

Hi Jen! IDK if you have had surgery yet but I bet your learning a lot! Not everyone has the tummy tucks afterwards but in several cases insurance has covered them due to skin infections, back and neck pain.. etc. As far as protein, the protein I use is Allmax from vitalady.com and it is fine on my stomach. I also do Shakeology but started that within the last week. That has 70 nutrients in it. I used my j-tube as my lifeline for protein and water the first couple months. But, once the j-tube was out I felt a ton better!
