I just received my approval letter Friday from Blue Cross. I am anxious to call Dr. Eibes office Monday Morning and get things rolling! I started with the process in August of last year I think. I had been recently diagnosed with severe sleep apnea, diabetes 2 and my blood pressure was out of control. Dr. Eibes said if I could get down from the 292 I was at, this would really help me with surgery. I am now at 270. I had a hold up with my psychiatric process. I had 3 appointments with one practioner and missed a date and she fired me! I started over with a new practioner and finally got all finished with the psych part in February. I was on medicaid due to being off of work for 3 months last summer and in a transitional program. They denied me after about 1.5 months, they said I needed to have 6 months of dr. documented diet history. I started full time with the company I had been temping for since September, March 18th and recieved Blue Cross. It only took them one week to make a decision.

I had mine done through Dr Eibes and would bet my life on him anytime. I do have a friend who is going through Mercy and absolutly hates it. They started with Mercy and have been getting headache after headache and are made to jump through so many hoops that Dr. Eibes doesn't do. They have found out now that they are to far into it financially that it would be like paying double to back out and start with Dr Eibes. We have a support group meeting on May 5th if you want to check out that side of it. Let me know and I will give you the address. Amy Middle

Thank you Hawkeye Mike for sharing this information with me. I did hear that Grinnell was one of the best and that Dr. Eibes came from that team which is why I think alot of people I work with chose him. And they all speak highly of him. I will continue to explore my options but I think that I am almost there with Mercy that I will probably stay with them. Plus after hearing and reading more people who have experienced the mercy program, I feel more comfortable.
