Congratulations!!    I know how exciting it is to finally be approved!!  My lap band is scheduled for July 16th - so we won't be too far off from each other.   I'm excited, but I think the closer it gets, the more nervous AND excited I will become because this is a dream come true for me.  I can't wait to be a "loser" like everyone else here....lol Keep us updated!  I'm interested in hearing how things progress for you. I've heard some not so great things about them too (I live in Iowa City) and I am going with Glas**** as well.  I know they're both centers of excellence with BCBS.. but I prefer Glas****'s program.

I remember Patty too but this was definently a Susan, blonde headed nurse.. glad your experience was a good one, that is all that matters.

Topic: I'M APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dr Glas****'s office submitted my paperwork Tuesday and BCBS approved me THURSDAY!! WOO HOO!! I'm scheduled for all the preops already and it looks like if all those come back I'll be having surgery late July.  (We're tentatively looking at July 26th!) I'm so excited but so scared at the same time! In other news, the DH and I joined a fitness club here in town that has a lap pool.  It has almost daily pool exercise classes that go for an hour and work perfectly with my work schedule that I'm going to do.  I am so much more excited about working out when I do the class thing vs the on my own thing.

Are you sure it was Susan? The nurse that in charge of the program is named Patty and yes she is not a very nice person. The others are very nice and supportive though. Patty really doesn't deal with patients if any at all. Sorry you had a bad experience. I will have my 4 year anniversary on Monday and Mercy is the place where I had my surgery. I really liked the program as they are several requirements however, I felt very safe knowing that they were watching out for me. Stephanie

Thanks for all the great replies! Boy, the last thing I want is to deal with someone mean during this experience!

I had surgery at University of Iowa and loved them all.  I thought the nurses and Dr. Samuel were very informative and understanding.  They listened to questions and concerns and had my insurance approval in a very short period of time.  I had a few nurses on the floor post op who I could have knocked out but Dr. Samuels team was fantastic.

I'm sorry you had troubles and hope you have better luck with Dr. Glas****
