Topic: Anyone have Dr.Glas**** Or near Dyersville?
Hello! This is the first time I've ever posted! I am wondering if there are any women out there around my age (50) who have Dr. Glas**** as their surgeon -- especially for RNY. Also, I live near Dyersville. Anyone near here? I'd like to find someone to "walk me through" their experiences, or simply to go through the process together. I'm currently having my lab work/diagnostic tests done right now prior to insurance approval.
Topic: highwaisted no more after LBL
You may not want to have a lower body lift by certain plastic surgeons if you are naturally high waisted with heart shaped buttocks. They seem to like to lower the waist into the crotch ( much like a mans waist is) and it can be very painful and work against the way your body slants and entrap natural bending places.

Topic: [SOLVED] University of Iowa Insurance & the DS =)
This is for anyone who is a student or works for the University of Iowa and has SHIP or Grad Care, or an Iowan who wants the DS and good insurance.
I had GradCare in 2010 with BCBS Wellmark. This is the standard plan at UI. It has great benefits and covers all WLS, including the DS and the VSG. The problem is, it requires that you see a surgeon in Iowa. There was no one in Iowa that did the DS, which is the surgery I wanted.
I switched my policy in August 2010 to the SHIP plan, which covers WLS and has out of network benefits. That meant I could see a surgeon out of network, like Dr. Anthone in Omaha, or others. (I eventually went to a surgeon in Georgia because I have family there.)
I got approved easily and within 4 days or so of the claim being submitted, and I am so grateful for that. Wellmark has treated me very well. I didn't need to diet pre-op, I just needed a history of vitals for the past 3 years and a BMI > 40 for the 3 years, and >50 for the DS.
If anyone is trying to get their surgery approved and they have Wellmark SHIP and needs any advice or anything, just drop me a line anytime. I realize the Iowa board is pretty slow, but I figured I'd put this out there.

Topic: RE: less reality plastic surgery television shows, lately ??
Discovery Health used to have a lot of those shows and the Opera network OWN took over that channel so you will no longer see the wonderful surgical and medical programing that discovery health had ... there are some plastic surgery shows on still but they are insane like one about getting plastic surgery for your wedding I cant remember the name of it

Hi Jenna,
I am not from the Des Moines area but know that Iowa City's UIHC group is open to anyone. It's a distance to go but it's an option once in awhile.
If you can't find one, maybe you could start one yourself. :-) We all know how much support means as we go through this journey.
I wish you the best and keep posting. Always love hearing from people about their experiences.

Sorry I can't help as I live in Sioux City, but I know how much my support group attendance helps me, so I do hope you are able to find a group soon.
Good luck,
Sally
