Aw thanks Nancy! You are too sweet! I am sure you are doing great, we have one heck of a surgeon so that helps us a lot! Hope all is well and let me know if I can help in anyway! Hugs!

Topic: RE: Iron Infusions??
Lyn,
I was diagnois with severe anemia this past spring. My doctor was very aggressive with treatment, 3 rx iron tablets of 350 mg each a day. He wanted to try that first and see what would happen and try to avoid doing the infusions. Infusions have to be done in an OR orignally due to a bad reaction to the iron itself. If you can avoid it I would do it at all costs. I had my blood tested 3 weeks after starting the iron pills and I had enough improvement in my blood work that the dr. wanted to continue this treatment. Thank goodness he did now my blood level is looking ok. We have not tested my reserves and will do that in a couple of weeks to see how things are going.
Sorry to hear you are having trouble. I hope that you get better soon.

You look so great! I've been using you as my role model and gauge since we started out close in weight and the same doctor. I hope I can do as well as you are!

Hi, congrats on your decision for WLS! I was banded 8/22/07 and doing great so far, no regrets! Dr. Eibes was my surgeon, and Dr. Lemasters did my first fill. They both are great. I was too scared to do the RNY, because of the risks. My friend had the band a year ago and is also doing great, I felt the band was my best choice with less risks. Pier

Topic: Iron Infusions??
Has anyone who is more than a couple years out needed iron infusions for anemia? My iron level is in the dumpster since the pancreatic surgery. Can't seem to get it up and I'm really tired of feeling crappy.

Topic: RE: Stressing about lack of medical records
Whatever company you go with make sure that they cover weight loss surgery. That should be stated in their exclusions, explanations of benefits, etc. Some companies chose to exclude wls to reduce overall insurance costs. So not all policies by the same insurance carrier will be the same. You want to look at the specifics before you change. I have had excellent service with BCBS.
Good luck,
Sally

I currently have Coventry. Dr. Eibes should have my pitiful records and my phych eval. I do not want to call every three days to see if letters have been sent or if I have been approved cuz I think it would make me nuts.
My annual enrollment for benefits is coming up and I may have the option to switch to BCBS at that time. If Coventry is unreasonable I may switch.

Mine is BCBS of Iowa. My BMI was about 66 at the time. I would definitely submit the Weigh****chers records.
Good luck,
Sally
