I didn't have your doctor but I did want to congradulate you on getting your surgery date. I know it will be an extra issue at Christmas, but what a great way to start the new year.

Hi, I've only posted a few times, but have lurked and gotten valuable info from everyone. We submitted to insurance right after Labor Day and finally, today, after many calls and faxes I got my verbal OK and the official letter from my insurance company is in the mail. I called my surgeon and am scheduled for Dec 13. I am so excited and relieved! Dr. Bruce Hardy in Ames will be doing my surgery.....anyone here had him as their surgeon?

Hi Melissa, I had my RNY in May 2005 with DR. Coster I have lost 186 lbs so far and I had a tummy tuck in March 2007 wth Coster again and I will be having my inner thighs done in Feb. I had a leak 2 days after my Rny and DR Kermode went in and fixed it. I think they did a great job. I wish you the best. I didnt have to do any liquid diet at all. Lavonda

Topic: Suppliment Suggestions

I have started the trip sown LapBand lane and have started trying different shakes, etc. (I haven't had the surgery yet) However, rather then reinventing the wheel I wanted to check with the group here for advice. I received a "Suppliment Suggestions" sheet from my surgeons office and there are definately alot of choices. From Unjury, Body Fortress, Designer Whey, to all the others. My question is all of you have already been there and done it so, what would you recommend as far as protein shakes, soups, etc and where would you suggest getting them? I bought a 3lb jug of powdered Isopure for $37.00 from GNC. However I'd like some advice from the group.... good choice, is there a better choice and better place??? I'm also having difficulty choosing soups / broths. The biggest thing I'm getting from reading everything is. 1. Stay away from any of the first 3 ingredients containing sugar, High fructose corn syrup. 2. Low Carbs 3. Low sodium I guess I'm saying HELP!!!! Jack

I think that's how you spell it. LOL Anyway... right now, I'm leaning toward Grinell. Anyone here had experience? Do you have to do liquid diet pre-op? How long? I have an appointment on the 17th of December. I'm still checking into other places, just waiting for the paperwork to get here.
