Gosh, that really sucks. I'm so sorry to hear you are having so much trouble with them! I worked at mine for about 4 and a half months, so I'm more than glad my day finally came! Your time will come too, don't get discouraged, I did but it worked out as it will for you! Good luck!! I'll pray for you! Katie

Thanks so much Lavonda! I think I am pretty well prepared for life right after surgery, but I'm fearful I'm forgetting something.... I'm sure I'll be fine. Just the jitters I guess. Your kind words put my mind at ease and I thank you for that! I try to stay in good spirits most of the time, but sometimes I break down and have a bad day just like everyone else. I'm so excited about this though that I am just beside myself. haha.

Thanks again!

I'm not as familiar with it but my concern with any type of malnutrition / mal absorbtion is how it affects medicine absorbtion.  For me, I'll only do the lapband becus of that. Thanks for the info though jack

Hi there Im from the Decorah Iowa area...and I had the Ds/bpd done on 2/20/03 in Mpls MN. I was 505 and am 280.  I have severe thyroid disease and lymphoedema and my doc didnt think Id even see 300 but I did. I have a huge hernia that needs repaired and a lot of excess skin to remove and after all of that, I know I would be at my goal I made almost 5 yrs ago...250#!! I LOVE the DS and the life it gave me back.  There is a DS message board on here...check it ouf if interested. I would love to answer any questions or talk to you about it and my experiences if you would like too. Just let me know! Lisa

Hi Katie Congratulations on your approval and surgery date woo hoo! I just made sure I had my protein mix at home and vitamins and a nice recliner lol. Thats where I slept for awhile. I read your profile you seem so good spirited and happy and I am sure you will be even happier once you feel healthier at least I was. Just stay strong after surgery I had my ups and downs but I kept the faith and realized in the end it was worth everything I went through. Good luck I wish you the best                                        Lavonda

Dr Hardy has said nothing about a liquid diet.  I think i'll find out Monday when my pre-op physical and testing is. How long will you be hospitalized?

this is what I told my husband, "this is going to be a LEARNING experience, so every time I whine or whatever, remind me what I said, that I'm LEARNING."

I'm headed to Iowa City - Dr. Jamaal.  The pull there is the laparscopic approach.  I have to start a liquid diet Tuesday - 2 weeks before surgery.  This will be a challenge!  One day at a time....   d
