Hi Stacey Thanks for th response, you are right!!!! DR Sundberg was great, i actually felt a lot more comfortable with him then i did with my previous surgeon, and i felt like he was actually listening to my problems with the band. I had 1 cc taken out and i actually have been able to eat a meal without it getting stuck. He also told me about the support group which is actually on a day i could attend, so i may just consider going. My experience overall today has been a very pleasant one, all the were very nice. Nice that my follow up care now can be consistent instead of being with a surgeon who couldnt give fills for 3 months because he was too busy.  Thanx for the welcome to IA, we actually LOVE Pella Donna

Topic: denied medical insurance 4 years after
I had a gastric bypass in April of 2003 and had no problem getting approved for the surgery. I had no complications, and have had no surgical complications since then. I lost 70 pounds. Presently I am not employed through a group employee plan, and I only have a few months of COBRA left. I applied for medical insurance through the local BCBS. According to the denial letter, I would not be able to be approved until 15 years after bariatric surgery.  I am shocked and had no idea that this would ever be a possibility! Can they do that? Does anyone have the names of any companies besides Wellmark that offer private individual medical insurance? Thank you for any suggestions anyone can give me. I am feeling pretty anxious about getting to this stage of my life without health insurance.

Topic: RE: Reached Goal & Gaining Again!
I'm not as far out as you are and haven't started regaining yet, but I understand that it is pretty typical at three years.  I worry as I am guilty of being a bit of a sweet tooth.  It's not getting me now, but I now it will.  I've read a the posts on the wls graduate forum about the 5 day pouch test and many seem to like it.  I am more the kind to just go back to the protein only for a few days to get off the carbs.   You might look at the book The Beck Diet Solution as it isn't really about any particular diet but changing how you think in order to change your behavior.  I find that my "self-talk" is really an important tool for me--or it can really work against me. Good luck, Sally

Congratulations.  I am two years out now and am so pleased with my results.  It can be a great experience.  I suggest you really focus on doing the best you can the first six months--keep a food journal, exercise, get you water, take your supplements, etc.  It both gets you great results but also helps set a tone for the rest of your life, even if you ease up a bit later.   Good luck, Sally
