Topic: RE: plastic surgery and medicare/medicaid
Panniculectomy is removing the skin of the pannus, lower tummy. Insurance will sometimes pay for the panniculectomy but will rarely pay for a full tummy tuck. I don't know about medicaid. I would highly doubt they would pay for a tummy tuck. And not to be mean, but as an Iowa taxpayer, I would hope that they wouldn't pay for a tummy tuck. That's cosmetic unless you have a hernia.
Topic: RE: MEDICAID AND MEDICARE SURGEONS LIST!
Dr. Kyle VerSteeg of Iowa Bariatrics in Ft. Dodge accepts medicaid. 1-800-684-1317. He did my surgery 10-18-06 and I couldn't be happier. Now I'm looking for a plastic surgeon who will accept medicare-medicaid, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone had plastic surgery and had medicare or medicaid pay for it? One more question I was reading another post regarding the difference between abdominoplasty and a panniculectomy. I thought the panniculectomy was when they redid muscles but from what I read on the post it was the abdominoplasty that does. I would like to have my muscles repaired. Thank you

Things are going really well!! I'm down 31 pounds since my surgery!! I'm finding it easier and easier to move around and get back to "normal". I'm sure it'll be even better once all the staples are out on Friday. Of course, there are still lots of things that I'm not "allowed" to do yet. I have to admit, I'll be soooo glad when I can eat "regular" foods again (this pureed stuff is gettin' old!).

Topic: RE: Retaining Fluid
Since you are only a month out, probably the best thing for you to do is call the office & ask them what they recommend. They have a dietitian who can give you some ideas of phase 2 foods that have less sodium but lots of protein and if you are retaining fluid, they'd probably want to know that too.

Topic: Retaining Fluid
Hi, I had my roux-en-y surgery on January 31 and have lost 25 pounds so far. But this week I seem to be retaining a lot of water and have only lost 2 pounds, very discouraging! I'm trying to drink a lot but have been eating a lot of canned chicken which is high in sodium. Does anyone have any ideas for me to get rid of this fluid so I can start losing weight again? Thanks!
