Topic: WW?/Plateaued
Hi all..thought I'd drop in to ask a quick question.  I'm a year and a half out and not only plateaued, but gained 10 lbs over the winter.  I'm suppose to be at 174 and today I got on the scale and was 199.  OMG!!  Last fall I was at 185 - 187 and really let myself go lately.  I tried on a pair of shorts yesterday that were way big last summer and I had to lay on the bed to zip them up.  NOT OKAY! So I was thinking of starting weigh****chers.  Is anyone else that had the gastric doing this?  Any other suggestions?  I know now that spring/summer is here I will be able to get out and exercise more, but still..my tastebuds are use to all the tastes of food again and I'm worried I will stretch my stomach out..UGHH Thanks, Janine

Hi Jaylynn, Good luck to you!  I had my lap RNY with Dr. C in 9/06. I do not regret one minute of this decision. The staff at our clinic and hospital are wonderful.  This may seem silly - but, I did not allow the "what ifs" to enter my mind...I kept positive thoughts. I told myself and anyone that would listen that I wanted to go home the day after surgery and I would be off work just one week. I had my surgery on Monday, home on Tuesday, and the treadmill on Friday....now granted, it was really a slow, short walk...but, hey it was something.   I also knew that it would not be an easy lifestyle change...but, it would be one that was worth it. The first couple weeks are the hardest and you may question why you did it...but, after that point, it will get easier.  Again, good luck to you and enjoy the ride!  It is such a gift to have a new chance at living a healthy life!  Take care and good luck!  Jill G.

Tonya - I just wanted to let you know that you provided inspiration to more than just Lisa with your comments.  I am struggling to have my husband accept my decision and the positive comments from you about doing something for ourselves was just what I needed as well.  Thank you, thank you!       Jane

Hey Lisa...okay so I kinda went through what you are going through.  At first when I finally decided to get the whole process started so I could get the surgery, the first person I told was my mama who is very supportive of me (thankfully).  That is because she, herself, has struggled with weight issues all her life, so she knows my pain.  I told my dad next, who was not as supportive at first, but once I educated him he's definitely come around.  I know that not everyone who chooses to tell whomever they wish, will end up having as good as reaction as I did.  At first I wasnt going to tell co-workers, but I decided to change my mind because for me personally I am very excited about this and wanted to share it with people.

In all honestly, I know people are going to have their speculations regardless of what they know or do not know and people are going to have their opinions no matter what, thats just the way life is.  I guess I'm kinda rambling here *lol* BUT my point is this: the choice is totally yours.  Its your mind and body that will be going through this and yours alone.  Its a very private matter for you and no matter what you choose to do-remember that for once in your life, its okay to be all about YOU....you are doing this for the opportunity to have a BETTER life, a HEALTHIER life and there is nothing wrong with that, no matter how you go about it!  Its your life and yours only...of course the support of those you care about would be nice and welcoming but just remember that if you dont get that, ITS OKAY...if you are strong enough to even consider this surgery..you are strong enough to make it thru anything that comes along with it!  Take care and I hope I was some help!  *hugs*

Topic: ?'s about telling others
Hi all,  I finally, after 3 years, have my surgery date- 4-29.  My husband is behind me 100%, but I have yet to tell my parents or siblings any of this.  Mainly, because I feel they will try to talk me out of it, or make jokes at my expense .  They have not had the lifelong issues I have had and would not understand.  My husband feels as though I do need to tell them, I just am too chicken to do this!  Anyone else deal with something similar? Thanks, Lisa
