Topic: RE: I'm banded!
Hi Jenny,
I'm so happy to hear it went well, since you are home now! Woo Hoooooo
Yes, I can't wait to hear how it went, but wait until you are feeling up to it! Take care of yourself. I talked to the office today and they think I could possibly find out in 2 weeks! I sure hope.
Take care,
Kristi

Hi Jenn,
Glad it's getting easier and that you talked to Amy. I think fat free/sugar free/low cal is the key and of course, liquid! I have been hungry lately and not sure why. I think my body is getting used to fewer calories and my metabolism is speeding up...........doesn't that sound healthy? I honestly think I'm having "head hunger" and I hate it.
Only five more days now until your surgery day since today is almost over. I am so excited and happy for you. I can't wait to hear all about your experience. I pray you will have no pain and your recovery will be a breeze!
Keep posting and focus on the moment.

Hi Tammy,
Oh, don't give up and don't start smoking..............please!!!! Just appeal the insurance decision and it shouldn't take that long to get another decision. I have to tell you, someone I work with told me that when you appeal insurance decisions for the second time, it goes to an outside, independent firm and they always approve it. Some place called "cheddar" like the cheese but I am not sure how it's spelled. Anyway, no insurance company wants "cheddar" to get involved so they approve requests if you appeal it a second time. Hang in there and keep trying..............delays are not the end of the road, remember!
Keep posting and focus on your goal............we're here for you!

Ok...so I called Amy and she said the potatoes were ok as long as the gravy (if you chose to use gravy) is fat free and low cal. Also I'm glad I called her because I figured out I'm not getting enough calories in...which is why I only lost half a pound when I weighed in thIs week (which really made me mad by the way!!!) ok so good info to know. Today I pureed chicken and dumpling soup at lunch and that was ok. I bought some other kinds to try also. It is getting easier! Only 6 more days to go!!! I can't believe it!!!!!!

Hi, I'm sorry to hear about the denial. Did you have to submit records of previous visits to your Dr. that would have your weight records? Talk to your surgeon and see what the next step is in regards to an appeal.
Good luck and don't start smoking. You want to be healthy!

I didn't think it would happen. Lots of people told me that I would be denied at first, but I didn't want to believe them. Now I'm depressed and want to start smoking again!! I don't know how to deal with this. It states that there isn't a history of my BMI at greater than 40 for 2 years or more. Do they not understand that I have been at this risky weight for 20 years?? I couldn't even talk to my husband about the denial letter. And he's my biggest supporter, my best friend. I just needed to vent some frustration. I've got a long road ahead and not sure how I'll make it.

I say ask Amy. You don't want to delay your surgery because you ate something you shouldn't have. I am kind of thinking it's probably okay............I mean, if cream soups that are strained are okay, gravy should be okay too. That sounds good too!
Oh wow, I just realized you're only a week away from surgery! Yeah, Jenn!
