Hi Jenny~

I've heard too of people being too uncomfortable to sleep in thier beds and having to sleep on their recliner...we have a huge comfy recliner, so Im not so sure that would be a bad thing!! LOL

Im glad your surgeon could figure out that the port was kinking before it was too late and you were closed up!! That would be no fun to deal with!  Glad your doing well, congrats on the losers bench!  I cant wait to hear how the weight loss goes, keep us posted!!

It works and your ink is looking purple tonight.    Now that I have mastered the avatar, I'll work on a ticker.  You guys are challenging the heck out of me with your computer knowledge, you know.

Have a good weekend and stay warm..........sounds like the weather is going to dip down again on us.

Glad that you are doing okay, even if you are sore.  At least you know each day will get better and you will be less sore and more energetic!  I have heard that the more you walk, the quicker you feel better.  (Listen to the expert here who hasn't had her surgery yet!)  Good idea to keep up with the pain meds to keep ahead of the pain.  I am sorry you can't lay down to sleep and I wondered about that before.  I sleep on my side and if I can't do that, I wondered how I'd sleep.  Guess I'll become good friends with my recliner if I have to.

Just take care of yourself and keep getting better each day.  Post so I know how you are doing and tell me what you are going through.  It's good to know about others' experiences.

Have a good weekend..................

Congrats Jenny!  I'm so excited for you!  Sorry to hear about the kinking problem, but at least she knew while she was working on you and not when they tried to do a fill for the 1st time and it wouldn't work.  Take it easy and rest!  I appreciate you writing this.  It will be nice to know someone  on the board that has the band!

Take care,
Kristi

Topic: Very sore
My surgery day wasn't too bad.  I had to be at the hospital at 5:00 AM.  So I was up at 3:45.  Man I was tired.  We got there and did all the paperwork then was taken back into the pre-op area.  They took blood, put in an IV, gave me a blood thinner, and game a dopamine patch so I wouldn't be throwing up after surgery.  I talked to Dr. LaMasters PA Alissa then was taken back to the OR.  It was freezing.  I talked to Dr. LaMasters before they put me under.  I remembe waking up to them asking me if i was in pain.  I was and I was a little nausious.  So they gave me more meds and I was feeling great.  They took me to my room then brought my mom in.  She told me that Dr. LaMasters had problems placing the port.  It kept getting kincked.  So she had to move the port lower than she normally does.  She told my mom that my abdominal cavity was too narrow.  The first time I've ever had anyone tell me somthing is too narrow on me.  LOL  I had to wait forever to go to radiology.  I had to drink barium and have a doc look at the x-rays to make sure everything was in place right.  After that was done I finally got something to drink.  My mouth was like a cotten ball, a very bad tasting cotton ball.  LOL  I felt really good yesterday.  I've been taking the pain meds on a regular basis to try to stay ahead of the pain.  But that first incision where she normally places the port is very sore.  She told my mom it probably would be because they had to mess with it the most.  The only other thing is I can't sleep laying down.  It's very uncomfortable.  So I spent most of last night in the recliner.  Just a little thing so I can handle that.  Hopefully that one incision won't be so sore tomorrow.  Thank you all for your support.  It means a lot to me!  I'm finally on the loser's bench!  YAY!

Just like everyone else said don't get down.  I got denied the first time too.  I was just like you.  I wanted to give up, but I had a lot of support here and from my family.  And paid off.  I was just banded yesterday.  So just keep going.  Appeal the denial and if worse comes to worse start all over again.  You can do it and you will get there.
