My gosh, Angel, you have got to quit worrying about how fast you are losing. You're going to make yourself a nervous wreck otherwise. A slow loser? You have lost almost 100 lbs in 5 months! Would you call that slow? I certainly don't. You are doing wonderfully. As far as only 7 this month. That's perfectly normal. You can't expect to lose it all in a few months. Give it time. I hate to tell you but it will get worse, even though you are following all the rules. You may have weeks that you don't lose an ounce & you will get frustrated. Our bodies are fickle things. They want to hang onto that nasty fat and it will try. Give yourself time. You didn't gain it all in 5 months & you won't lose it all in 5 months. Please don't take this as a scolding. I know where you're coming from & I understand your concern but try not to worry so much & stress out. Keep following the rules. You'll get there, just maybe not as fast as you want to. Dixie

Thanks Dixie, I know I do worry a lot. I tried for 4 years hard to get the weight off and it would not that is why I get worried. I feel a lot better and look better. I am thankful for no complications and getting my life back I do focus on the positives I am striving to be healthy. I was told from mercy Capitol you want to lose the most in the first 6 months as you can because after that it is hard to get the rest off and I feel my window is closing I only have 1 month left. I do understand you can lose more weight after 6 months but it is harder. Just some insides why I get nervous about the weightloss Thank you so much for your reply I always love reading your wonderful, heart warming replys they are so nice. Thank you again Angel

I am so glad you didn't take offense at what I said. It's so easy to take things wrong when you can't hear how it's being said. Thinking back, I remember that I wanted to have lost 100 lbs by Apriil 3, my son's wedding day. That would have been 4 months after my surgery. I didn't make it. I think I lost about 90 by then. I think they are underestimating the window. Most surgeons will say 18 months is normal. However, that doesn't work for everyone. We're all different. My window started slamming shut around 9 months. I think I've lost only about 20 lbs since that time & that includes what I lost friom my plastic surgeries. It's been a real struggle so don't waste that easy time. From what you say, I don't think that will be a problem. It sounds like you're following the program. Dixie

I second everything that Dixie said. Think of it this way - you've already lost 100 - you only have 42 to go! That's a HUGE accomplishment. Plus, if you're doing everything right - then you are losing the most that you can in those first 6 months, right? To ease your mind a little though, I'll post my weightloss by month - just because today is my anniversary day, so I just had my sheet open! Oh wait - and I didn't even weigh myself the first month, so I'll skip that! Surgery to 2 months - 49 lbs 2-3 13 lbs 3-4 13 lbs 4-5 8 lbs 5-6 2 lbs 6-7 9 lbs And that's another point - it's going to vary greatly on what you had to lose in the first place, etc. I just wouldn't worry about it. If you're doing everything right, I'm sure everything will work out for ya. Amy 265/157/150

Thank you Amy I was under the impression in the first 6 months we were going to lose 120 pounds (20 a month) and figured it wasn't going to happen. I feel better now. Thank you Angel

Who is "we"? Everyone that has wls? I can't say that I've ever heard of 20 lb rule. Not trying to be rude or anything, I just don't have a better way to say that. Anyway, to be helpful, I did ask another friend and he said that he lost more than 20 lbs most of those months and then went to a 9 lb lost - but he was over 400 lbs to start with. I don't think there's anyway you can compare two totally different starting points like that. OK, that still wasn't the helpful part! I'll try to get the link for ya, but this same friend maintains a huge spreadsheet for our Sept board. It has all of our weight loss, the means and margins - all that jazz. The bottom line is, he says that our average is no where near that 20 lb/month goal. So really, really, I wouldn't fret - you're doing awesome!!!! Enjoy it!

It comes down to calories in, calories out. If you're taking in more calories than you are expending you will gain weight. No one will authorize a revision because you are not doing your part (exercising). I'm not trying to be harsh...just honest. Track your calories on www.fitday.com and see where you stand in the scheme of things. Good luck, Hon! ~~Sherry

Carrie , Hi youre not alone .. I am over 3 years out and yes I have gained 30 lbs .. my gain was a combination of poor food choices and I too stopped excersizing on a regular basis . I have recently gotten back to the basics Protein first lots of water .. treadmill once a day and no white stuff .. If you need a partner email me at nan054 @aol.com I could use a buddy in this struggle myself ..hugs , Ruthie
