well seems like nothing ever goes the way you want it right? Well I saw the specialist yesterday regarding my ankle and he said he is 99% sure that I ripped apart my achilles tendon. He scheduled a MRI done this morning (done) and then I have an appt with him tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. to discuss the MRI and my options. He already told me that if he is right then I have two options...a leg cast (thigh to toe) for 6 - 8 wks or surgery (smaller cast for the same amount of time). I'm so bummed. I guess the chances of me having my gastric (even if I am approved) have been postponed for a while. I'm still going to do whatever i can in the mean time, but I probably won't be able to have the surgery this year even if I am approved. I only have so much time available for sick/vacation time and I believe it will be taken up with foot surgery. Does anyone know what I would have to do if I get approved this year and I wait until the first of next year to do it? I hate the fact that if I do get approved..I have to wait even longer..but just curious if anyone knows if that is possible? Janine

Sorry to hear those options - what a bummer. As far as the approval goes... I'm sure it varies by insurer. I believe I had to have surgery completely within 6-9 months after it was approved. I was only concerned about the new year, because that's when our policy always changes - and if it would get excluded, that's when it would likely happen. So I'd just say to talk to them and find out what the time requirements are. Good luck!
