Hello to everyone! I have been doing a lot of reading on the messageboard, and have gotten a lot of helpful information thanks. My surgery is scheduled for April 25th, was scheduled March 28th but was cancelled due to my hypothyroidism. I was over medicated so I had to wait until it was closer to normal. I know that WLS is right for me no matter the outcome, either way being overweight is killing me. My family is worried they will lose me. I told them if I don't do something they will lose me. The only worry I have is I have a 1 year old son. I'm doing this for him and I need to live for him. I have 4 Kids but the others are 20,19,16 and they do their own thing, but are still worried about their Mother. My husband is worried too, but he supports me and realizes I need the WLS. I work for Habitat for Humanity as their Volunteer Coordinator and it's really hard for me to walk around on jobsites and greet volunteers, and to get into houses under construction. As we all know being overweight SUCKS!!!! I can't wait until the 25th. Thanks again for all the helpful information. Tracie

I just wanted to congratulate you on your up coming surgery. It sounds like you are ready. I was also worried because I have a 5 year old but like you said most of the reason why I didn't this was for her. Good luck Melissa 337/187/170

Good luck on your up and coming WLS. Sounds like you are at the step where you need to be and the 25th will be here before you know it. Keep us posted on your recovery as I am still in the beginning stage of this process so any help from others is always nice. Take care, Deanne

Tracie: Congratulations and good luck with your surgery. I had surgery March 20th and I am feeling great! I have more energy than I have had in years. I think the diet change has made the difference. I wish I had done it sooner. Keep us posted on your journey. Jan Marie

Yeah. It's hard. Especially with young children. My youngest was about 18 mos when I had surgery - the oldest was 5. I knew the risk of something happening during surgery was WAY less than the risk that I was facing every single day with my cholesterol where it was... My family was very nervous... ok, my MOTHER was very nervous. I was just talking about it with Angie (PA) the other day. She asked how supportive my family is. I told her they that they are very supportive now that I didn't die on the table! I did and still do have all the trust in the world in Dr G's team though. Amy
