I was just looking at a profile that showed a before and after pic. I noticed something that I never thought about. She had a tube comeing out of her nose the before pic was the day after sugery. Is the tube normal. Did it bother you much and how soon do they take it out. Do they put it in while you are asleep.

Where are you having surgery? This makes a difference. Ask your surgeon. I had a tube but just for 24 hours, and yes they put it down while I was asleep. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was worried I would pull it out when I turned in bed but it was fine. But the first 24 hours you are still pretty groggy and things don't bother you like you might think. Good luck with your journey. Your surgeon should explain the procedure to you, or at least the nurse before you go into surgery. Be sure to ask if they don't. Cindy G.

Thanks Cindy. Iam haveing my surgery in Alabama. IT just seemed like such a stupid question I went to another state to ask LOL. Iam not going to worry about something as small as weather they put a tube in my nose. I just hope if they do Iam alseep just in case I throw up on them. I gag so easy.

Brenda, I'm sure some people have it in place after surgery but only rarely. I have had several surgeries & never a nasal tube. They do put one down your throat usually, while asleep, but it's gone when you're awake. I'm sure you'll do fine but it's a very good question to ask your surgeon or his nursing staff at a presurgical visit, since you're concerned. Good luck. Your date is just around the corner. Dixie
