Sleep Study a go..

Well just a quick update..I went and talked to my PCP last night and talked to him about doing something for my snoring and my increased drowsiness during the day. He recommended a sleep study (YEAH) so the hospital is suppose to call me in the next week to set up my sleep study. He said it would probably be a couple of weeks before they can get me in, but thats ok since otherwise I would have to wait until after April 26th for Mercy to schedule an appt for me. This way I will have it done by the time I go into see the RN visit on May 3rd. YEAHHHH Janine

Well I got my call tonight from Mary Greeley's Medical Center. They got me in April 14th for my sleep study. Very excited!!! I'm hoping things come back okay..(hoping for no CPAP). Janine

My husband has to have a cpap and our medical supply store really took him on the price of it. We just found that you can go on the internet and buy them so much cheaper. Just thought I would let you know in case you do have to have one. I know they need to set the air control for you but I think that can be done anyhow. Also you might check on the main board if you need one as some of the people that have had surgery have one you can get maybe cheaper and then buy yourself a new mask. Just a couple of ideas for you. Just curious..doesn't most insurance companies pay for it? Or majority of it??? If not, I REALLY hope I dont have to have it...

Funny you should ask. I just got my cpap two weeks ago. A new machine cost $2600 and I have to pay 10%. My insurance (BCBS Alliance Select) pays for them on a rent to own basis. They will rent it for 10 months and then they consider it purchased. I haven't gotten a bill yet, but I do know that deductible and co insurance both apply to DME. I'm hoping to be able to get rid of it very soon after surgery, so maybe I won't have to use it the full 10 months.

I am a little late, but with my sleep study, they would wake you and give you oxygen (thru nasal tubes) if your struggled breathing. So I awoke knowing all was good For me it was the best night sleep I ever got..... Most people hate it.....but besides all the wires, they turned to air on for me, pitch black, no kids or hubby, it was great!!! Wishing you the best......Take Care jesi
