I need help!!!!!!

I found out today that the hospital that I am going to wants $3000 2 weeks before surgery( which is MAy 8 if I get approved). I thought it was going to be $1500. I am going to genesis east. Has anyone else had to do this? $3000 is my out of pocket money but I still think that it is alot to come up with in 6 weeks. Please let me know if this sounds right or should I look into somewhere else. Thanks, Bobbi

Boy, I haven't heard that they require anything up front from my hospital. I know I have to pay any copay up front for the surgeon but I think I will have met my deductible. I hope you find out different. I know I couldn't scrape up the 1500 let alone the 3000! Good Luck! I will keep you in my prayers. Jan

I also had to come up with a co-pay and maxium out of pocket. It was $1500. I put it on my credit card. My dh insurance company just raised the maxium out of pocket to $3000. I am grateful I had it done before then. Cindy

Yep, Bobbi, that's what I had to pay when I had surgery at Genesis in November. The finance manager puts the money into an account and pays all your bills from that. I haven't had to pay anymore than that, but I have gotten several EOB's (explanation of benefits) from my insurance carrier and to date the total paid out is over $32,000. Some credit cards will give you 0% on transfer balances for the life of the balance, and that is one idea I considered. Good luck to you. I have BCBS and have a 1,000 deductible and was told that it would be due when I checked into the hosipital. That is at Mercy in DM
