Hello, I had my surgery in May 2005 and I am now helping my sister go through the whole approval process. She has Coventry of IA insurance and heard at her consult that they are had to work with-dead end, don't even bother was the attitude from the surgeon. I'm telling her to put up a fight and if she gets denied to write as many appeal letters as it takes. Has anyone been approved that has Coventry of IA insurance, and if so what was your experiance like? Thanks, Sheila

Hi Sheila, Over on the left you will see a blue border with some Topics to pick from. Go to insurers, choose "C", and scroll down to Coventry. Doesn't sound promising, but people have been able to have the procedure with Coventry. Good luck Phil

My understanding is that Coventry has a blanket exclusion on WLS. When I was getting ready to have mine, the surgeon of course asked what insurance and he said he was glad it wasn't Coventry since they never pay for it. But things change and it's worth the fight.

I had Coventry when I was looking in to surgery and called and was told there was an exclusion and it would not be covered. I changed insurances with open enrollment to United heath care and it was covered with no problem. Can you sister change insurances with open enrollment?
