Appr 1 month, no date yet

I have all of my dr visits done and have ins. approval as Jan 24th. But no date as Capitol Mercy is not scheduling any surgeries. The dr are not doing any elective surgeries as their main practice had several dr leave. I am trying to be patient but it sure is hard when you don't have a date to look forward to. They give me hope for early Apr.

Hang in there, Susan, hopefully the time will zip by faster than what it has been I go for my first meeting tomorrow. My PCP called me today to let me know that Dr. Smolik, and not him (he?) will be my WLS Doctor and Mercy will be handling everything. I just gave him the letter that Mercy asked me to give him and he went off on how they want to gang up on the insurance company or something like that and he won't approve of such a difficult operation that does not have good results. I think at the time I caught him off guard and he was thinking of a different procedure. It's interesting to note that they aren't scheduling surgeries at this time. all of my consultation appointments so far extend to mid May soI was thinking of having them olace me on a diet program between then and now. I hope they call you soon to say they've resumed and you'll be first up! Good luck Phil

Thanks, I have had very good luck with my dr supporting me. Now ins. has been another thing. I was denied twice, third time was a charm. It only took year and a half. Good luck to you.

Who is your doctor at Mercy Capital? I hope they schedule you soon.

Kind of makes you wonder why the drs. left the main practice....

The doctor's that left were not WLS surgeons. They were in the same group as Dr's Beck, Smolik and Cahalan, but did not perform WLS surgery. The 3 doc's now have to cover all of those pre scheduled surgeries that are NON-elective first. Those elctive surgeries (*us*) have to wait a bit longer.

Susan, Dr Smolik did my surgery on 04/25/05. I am also doing very well. I hope things get resolved soon for you. It is the best thing I ever did for myself. I have heard there are some problems getting surgeries scheduled. I have a friend at work that has been trying since last November. She has been waiting on Mercy Capital since Jan 2006 all her testing is done and she too has been approved. Still they keep pushing her back. Keep the faith, it will all be worth it. Good luck Deb

Oh crap. I have my surgeon appt with Dr. Beck on the 13th. I haven't even had anything submitted to my insurance yet. I was hoping for an early April date. Sounds like it may not work out that way.
