I don't know if many of you know the details of going through Mercy Capitol in Des Moines for surgery, But my next step in the procedure is talking with the nurse after she has looked over the questionaire I filled out. I don't know if this call includes the next call to discuss benefits and financial responsibilities and insurance requirements or if it's just the phone call to discuss my questionairre and answer my questions. I really don't have many questions because I look everything up here or ask someone. My main question is if my PCP screwed things up for me. I plow snow off the streets for the city so she'll be calling me in my truck . I hope the snow lets up enough that I can take notes. I don't know if this is a yay or nay call so wish me luck. Phil

Phil, Hope all goes well with your phone interview. I am going thru Mercy Capitol also. I went to the lecture on Feb 4th and got the packet but am having problems getting it all filled in. Plus, I'm the world's biggest procrastinator. I do need to get it sent in as I already know that my insurance will cover the procedure. Let us know how the interview goes Stay warm out there in this nasty weather. I guess Mother Nature has to let us know she's still large and in charge!! Drive careful and good luck with the interview. Linda S.

Heres wishing you the best with your call today. I hope it all goes well for you. I wouldn't want to be in your shoes on days like today. There are to many crazy people out there that can't drive on a good day little lone a day like this. So I will wish you luck with this also. We will all be looking foward to your next post telling us it is a go and the phone interview was a piece of cake. Have a safe day. Cindy

I went to Mercy and Dr. Smolik did my surgery in July. When I had my phone interview they set up my appointment with the surgeon and the appointment at the hospital with the nurse. Also after I talked to the nurse the sleep center called to set up the date for the sleep study. Good luck!! Melissa 337/196/170

My phone interview was about a month ago. I'm still waiting for an appointment with the surgeon. They told me what other testing I needed to get done--sleep study, psych eval, and cardiology. You may or may not have to do those things. Depends on how you answered your questionnaire. They will also set you up with your first nurse visit. You go in and weighed, measured and photographed. Then they give a presentation on what the surgery involves and what you'll eat afterwards etc. They did mine as a group. There were 3 of us and 2 people brought their support person with them. When you check in for the nurse visit they also have you talk to the financial lady.
