Ok guys! Today I go for my three month checkup. THREE MONTHS already. I am a little nervous. I know there have been so many things that I wanted to ask Angi (Dr. G's) but do you think I can think of even one. You that have been to your first follow-up.... what things did you talk to your surgeon about? If you can share that would be great. Maybe it would jolt my memory. From now on, I am going to write down all my questions as they come to mind. Thanks Terri

Good luck I was always so scared to go to my follow-ups....even tho they always turned out fine! I hope some of Dr. G's gals see this and can give ya some questions to ask....I think at 3 months, I was asking about goal weights (never got one), amounts I should be eating, if I need to add more vitamins like a b complex.....stuff like that. Again, good luck and let us know how it goes!!! Take Care jesi

Angie will ask you lots of questions about how you're doing and that may jog your memory a bit. She'll ask about your vitamins, exercise, diet, & I'm sure there are more but it's been so long. Congratulations on your successes so far.It was nice seeing you at support group a couple weeks ago. Dixie

Morning Terry: I sure hope all goes well for you today. The only questions that I have on my list right now, you are about 1-1/2 months infront of me, is nutritional items. Like how many carbs should I be taking in per meal. How much protein supplement do you want me to do, or all from food. Constipation questions!!!!!! If I get hair loss, when will it start? Ask if there is a source they have for a medical ID braclet and the importance your doctor feels about them. I want to get the exact info I should have on mine so there are no questions. I also want to get a copy of my first blood work results so that I can compare them with future ones and ask what is normal range. Another questions is, can they prescribe a daily vitamin for me so that insurance will help pay for them? These are just a few that I have been thinking about. Also, I have some friends who have also had wls, and they were able to get a card from their doctor that said, Please allow Kathy to order food from the childrens menu. She has had Gastric Bypass Surgery and will not consume all from a larger portion meal. My friends had this card laminated and they show it many times and get to order off childrens menu. Same food, just much smaller portions. Works well at Outback, LoneStar, Red Lobster Olive Garden. The mom and pops resturants are pretty good and don't care what you order. Please let me know how it goes for you and keep posting. I miss seeing you here. Kap

Kathy, I read your response & just want to respond to a couple things. Dr G's office usually sends a laminated card to his patients with that information. They may not have gotten around to it yet but I'd definately ask at your next appointment. Be forwarned though that most places do not accept it. I have only used it at Bishops & they are very good about taking it. I wonder if you'd let us know the answer about the vitamins. I get the ones his office recommends & they are quite pricey & can only be bought at a couple pharmacies, the one at Sartori is one. I'd be thrilled if I can use my cafeteria plan to buy them but they have to be medically necessary & I think that in our case, they might qualify. As far as the medic alert bracelet goes, most doctors differ in their feeling about it. I have heard both sides. One is that it is important but the other is that in an emergency they don't stick a tube into your stomach, only into your airway. Also if they must put a tube into your stomach, if they hit an obstruction (our tiny stomach) they don't try to force it on further. It would also be a good question for Dr G as he is on-call in the ER often & would know if it was important. Another thing you can share with us, OK? Dixie

Thanks Dixie for your responses. I will for sure let you know about the vitamins and also the braclet. On the vitamins, I was using Optisource and then when I went back to Walgreens to get some more, they were gone. So I ended up with Centrum Chewables. It does seem good to just take one a day instead of four. I am still so confused on all this vitamin stuff and calcium and B12 pills verses B12 shots. I feel like I might not know what I am doing is good or not. I am finally able to eat FOOD. Seems so good, but its not a lot believe me. I guess I should not be going on and on here with it being Terri's post. I will let you know what I find out. Have a great week and I am planning on being at the next support meeting. Hoping to meet you then. Kathy
