Help me, I feel sick!
Hello out there, I am turning to you for help because I know you will have an answer for me.
I am 12 days postop and for the first time I have a stomachache. I have abdominal cramping, I can hear my guts rolling, and i feel I could vomit but am trying not to. What the heck is this? I tried some cream of chicken soup (no chicken) and some capaccino today much earlier. Now I am hurting. Is it what I ate? Is it the hot cappo? But that was over 5 hours ago. I don't know what to think. !!! Nicole
Since you originally posted yesterday, I have to guess that either you're better or you called your doctor! LOL It's probably just your gut getting used to having something a little thicker than water going thru. Some foods really give me the gut rolling thing, but I can't really figure out what it is. It seems to change all the time. For me, it's just part of having RNY. Check with your doc but you might want to try some Gas X. It really helps me.
Thanks for the help, Lyn. I do feel better today for the most part. I just had an episode of epigastric pains again, and I haven't eaten but an ounce of pudding today (and lots of water). I feel like I am a camel trying to load up on water before a long trip or something! I am going to lay blame on the cappacino since that was the biggest difference yesterday...it was probably loaded with sugar and caffeine even though I chose the fat free tapper!! I am just going to chalk this one up to the learning curve and try to be smarter about my decisions. I need to assume if the nutritional content is not available that it DOES contain sugar instead of assuming that it is OK.

Dixie, lactose intolerance never occured to me The creamy chicken soup I will bet had a lot of carbs and heavy milk in it-- it was cooked at a family restaurant. I went out today and bought some fat free lactose free cottage cheese to try tomorrow-- I start on purees tomorrow. I am going to blend the cottage cheese with sugar free applesause and see how that goes. Thanks for the response.

Hi Nicole - even though I am almost 2 years out the lactose intolerance comes and goes. Cheese is normally okay, but all other milk products depend on the mood my tummy is in that day. Actually for the last several months I can't tolerate any of them. My tummy is rolling and feeling awful for a full hour after if I do eat something. You can also get pills to chew up, but I haven't tried them. Good luck...
