Okay, I am two weeks post op, and I have lost 18 lbs. However, in the last three days I have lost NOTHING!!! I am having trouble getting in the protein, but I am trying! Does anyone have any advice? I am walking everyday, drinking water, and eating right, I just can't seem to lose anything! Thanks so much! -Miranda

Hi Miranda, I'm sure you're probably just hitting that first stall a little early. I know I hit mine a week earlier than everyone said I would. It was frustrating, but passed after two weeks. Try not to weigh yourself... check measurements if you have to. Someone told me to try on some different clothes during that time and sure enough, I was losing inches like crazy. The scale just wasn't moving. 18 lbs is a LOT. Focus on that part of it. Your body is still in shock - it will start coming off. I promise! Amy

Hi Miranda...I agree with Amy,you are prolly just in a stall..as weird as it might sound this is advice that helped and helps me when I hit them(been on 1 now for a week and a half) try to eat a lil more and drink more it usually will break it! And I bet you are losing the inches right now too..even tho I am in a stall the inches are going..I have went down to size 18 while waiting for this stall to break soo...hang in there it will happen your body just has to catch up is all!! Hijack! Lori - I'm thinking that we're built similar - cuz I'm at 207 right now, but got into 18's about a week ago. Right aroun 212. It's making me crazy seeing people getting rid of 18's and they weigh 20 lbs MORE. Dang those thighs and that butt of mine! I'm so excited to get to 16s though... I have tons of old jeans in that size (and lower), but for right now, I'm just sticking it out. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and point that out - I love finding someone who's actually similar to me! You're doing awesome!!!! Amy

If you are having trouble getting in enough protein, your body may be going into starvation mode. There is a reason you need to get in as much protein as possible, and keeping a steady weight loss is just one of them! Try eating mashed boiled egg w/ a little salad dressing...like egg salad...try cottage cheese...cream of wheat made with milk and 2 T powdered milk and splenda. Whatever you do...get as much protein in as you possible can. Also, try not to become a slave to the scale this early out. scales are not fully indicative of your success. Limit your weighing to once a week, no more. also, measure yourself with a tape measure and keep record of inches lost...often when the pounds stop dropping, the inches just fall off! Hang in there!!

Well Miranda... welcome to my world. I am three weeks post op today, and have not lost anymore weight than last week. I have gone from 272 to about 240. From two weeks before surgery (thanks to the clear liquid diet****il two weeks post op (still on the clear liquid diet). Now I don't seem to be losing anything. I know I am not getting in all my protein. Is this what is causing me to stall? I drink 2 protein drinks a day, plus as much protein (string cheese, peanut butter, whatever else) as I can. Which hasn't been a whole lot, because i always seem to get sick after I eat supper. My popular phrase, "I'm gonna go lay down for awhile". My husband knows this means that i am going to bed for the night. Don't know what is wrong. Guess it just takes a little time to adjust. I know I need to get in my protein. So friend.... you are not alone. I am getting a little depressed, as I thought the weight would melt off. I will just keep drinking water and doing what I can. You do the same. terri

Okay guys stop worrying about it. Your body has been through an awful lot and it's just taking time to adjust right now. Get in as much protein as you can and don't forget to get all your fluids in too. This is a common time for you to stop losing (read adjust) and it will pick up again soon. This is not truly a plateau. Those will come later when you are stuck for a month at a time. Just continue doing all the things your dr. has told you -- protein and fluids and exercise. Once your body realizes it's okay you will lose again. Believe me -- I know. Best of luck to all you. Janie 4/14/2004 272/136 (beyond goal and NO plastic surgery)
