Does anybody have any familiarity with Vitaball? It is a gumball that contains vitamins and after 5-10 minutes of chewing it you have absorbed the vitamins sublingually. It has sugar and i am wondering if it makes you cramp or dump? I am thinking of trying it postop since you just chew it and do not swallow or crush any pills. ~Nicole T.

Just a warning (besides the sugar aspect)...*most* surgeons do not allow chewing gum, due to the possibility of accidentally swallowing it and blocking the stoma...surgery would be required to remove it, IF that does happen. ~~Sherry

My surgeon would KILL me if he thought I was chewing gum. I always swallowed my gum so I wouldn't risk it. My surgeon's office gave us a list of vitamins to take after surgery & most of us found it difficult to crush them & many just gave up & took them whole. Recently they found a vitamin that fullfilled all my surgeon's vitamin requirements & it is chewable. You take 4 a day, spread out though the day & it actually is not chalky or icky tasting. The only thing we have to add is Vitamin B1 if it is needed. The vitamin is called Optisource and is made for bariatric patients. It is more expensive than buying the multi vitamin, iron, calcium, Vit C & B12 separately from WalMart but very convenient. I just started taking them last month when I bagan to have some stomach pain & was afraid I was damaging the outlet with the pills. I have no trouble remembering to take them & since they are good tasting no longer dread taking them. I buy them at my hospital's pharmacy but I understand that WalGreens carries them. Dixie
