Hello Everyone- I am considering have the surgery done. Or should I say I am having it done. I already had my first visit and I have done my pshych eval and now I am just waiting for the insurance approval. I would like to have it done before the end of the year but if that does not happen that is ok. I am really worried about the sleep apnea as I do not want to have that. Dr Glas**** in CF will be doing my surgery and I have heard that he is wonderful. I did go to one of the support groups there on a Monday night it was very helpful. (Dixie I saw you there and you look WONDERFUL). Way to go. I am a little nervous about being in the hospital as I have a 5 yr old and she does not like to be apart from me especially at night. I have a great support system at home and at work. I have been trying to excerise even though it's not one of my favorite things to do. I am to self conciousness about it. If anyone would be able to give me some advice on excerising I would appreciate it. Thanks for listening all and I can't wait to be on the WLS. Bridgette

Bridgette: Congratulations on taking this big step towards better health!! You can find ways to exercise, besides the typical workouts. You've got a 5 year old you can entertain and get your exercise at the same time. Take her for walks, there's a liitle outdoor time left!! Does she ride a bike yet? maybe next summer, you can get a bike, and attach a youth bike in the back. Then you both can do it together!! even just playing outdoors, and chasing her around is exercise!! Maybe if your town has an indoor pool, you could go swimming. Put on some music and you two can dance, that's a calorie burner. The main thing is to become more active, and move. If your daughter likes sports, play ball with her, maybe even go rollerskating if you have a rink indoors, for winter, and in the neighborhood for summer. Hope these ideas help!!! Good luck, DeeAnn R

Hi Brigitte, I'm embarrassed to admit that I am very bad with names & my memory is extremely bad. Did I meet you at the support group or did someone just point me out to you? If I met you I apoligize for not remembering. I promise to next time. By the way, thank you for the compliment! I understand your concerns about being in the hospital and your daughter. I don't have any advice except to remind you that kids are pretty resilient & she will get through it. Just try not to show any more concern than necessary so as not to scare her. Kids do pick up on things very easily. Have you done the pulse oximetry test yet? Everyone takes that test but if you pass it, you don't even have to do the sleep study. Here's hoping you pass it with flying colors! I hope you don't have sleep apnea but if you do, it's not the end of the world and you won't need to use the CPAP for very long. It is a pain for some to get used to but in the long run, it's worth the bother. Dr Glas**** is very careful & if he wants you to use the CPAP, then it's for the best. Between him & the pulmonologist *****ads the results of the sleep study, they know what they are doing. Are you going to the next support group meeting? The speaker is Dr Bastug, the plastic surgeon I used. His presentation is very good & even though you haven't had the surgery yet, his pictures will show you what you can expect. I know I had no idea what my body woudl look like after I lost the weight. Not only that but he's not at all hard to look at himself. Dixie
