Hi Janelle, Sorry to hear about your lack of energy but I understand your frustration. When I had that sharp pain for a whole month, I about went stir crazy. I kept reading how everyone was out doing this and that and I couldn't even stand up for more than 5 minutes at a time. I was even starting to get depressed which isn't normal for me. My husband was starting to call my friends and asking them to call me to cheer me up. I'm not sure that I can help you much except to use your recupe time to get caught up on those paper things...organizing, filing, scrapbooking, organizing pictures, reading and of course, catching all the talk shows which are my favorites. I'm not sure how I got through the first two weeks of liquids. I was mixing the protein powder with Carb Countdown chocolate milk most of the time. Keep your chin up and just get better and make sure you are taking all of your vitamins so you will heal faster. Leslie

Janelle, Sorry that I didn't respond sooner, hon. It sounds like your doc is right - you're weak because of everything that you have gone through. First off, make sure that you get rest. It's okay to baby yourself and get a lot of sleep when your body needs it to recover. THEN, work on liquids. Some people just can't do cold stuff right after surgery - that's normal. I couldn't do lukewarm, wanted cold and/or very warm liquids. Remember to sip, sip, sip - always. Can you try some of the s/f chocolate milk or even regular milk with some additional dry milk powder? I think that it's 1/3 cup dry milk powder adds about 8 or 9 extra grams of protein. Add that to 1 cup of milk and you have a cup of protein with about 16-18 grams. Also, can you do mushy foods yet? If so, how about some s/f pudding and then add a scoop of protein powder and/or some of the dry milk powder. We call that power puddin' at our house. I still do it sometimes for that boost. Be sure to keep in touch with your surgeon/dietician/nutritionist for help, too. Good luck and God bless, Andrea
