Im scheduled for a sleep test tonight. Is there anyting that I should take with me? Also, What if I do end up with sleep apnea? Will that push my surgery back? Kathy

Just pack like you are spending the night in a hotel. You may want to be sure and wear loose pj's or gown. There is a lot of hook ups and they need to run some wire down your legs so a t-shirt and shorts would be good too. If you do have it, it would depend on what the surgeon requires. My sister had to be on hers for 30 days prior to her surgery. You would need to check with the surgeon. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

I suggest taking your pillow. The ones they had at Mercy were not the greatest. Even if you have sleep apena, wouldn't you want to be healthy going into surgery than run the risks of complications. I had my sleep study over a month ago, just today met with my sleep dr. Did the requirement of 30 days on the sleep machine, but he still doesn't want to give the O****il he gets a echo gram completed. Of course I'm disappointed. I was really looking to an early September date, now it looks like October, but I tell you what I'd rather go into this with less risk of complications.

Dr G requires you to be using the CPAP for at least 30 days prior to surgery and that you bring it along with you to the hospital & use it there. Good luck tonight. Dixie

Thanks Dixie! It was a rough night! Didnt seem like I got enough sleep for them to tell anything. I sure hope thats not the case. I dont really want to go back. (Although everyone at the hospital was wonderful) How are you feeling? Take Care! Kathy

I think they can take into account that you are not sleeping there like you would at home. If I remember correctly, they can get enough information even if you only sleep a total of 3-4 hours, and that doesn't have to be straight. It is something good to be done with. I am feeling surprisingly well. It's hard to believe the abuse our bodies can take & we bounce right back. I have no trouble getting around & have graduated to just Tylenol for discomfort. I do, however, follow my doctor's instructions exactly. I believe they know what they are doing & if I follow the drections, I will do well. Be sure to let us know when you find out how the sleep study went. Dixie
