Hiya...I think my hubby and I are gonna swing by the picnic on the 21st as we will be in Cedar Rapids taking my son to school. Can someone give me directions on how to get to this park? We won't be eating as I won't have anywhere to cook anything which is ok just want to stop by and see all of you!!!! Have a great day, Janet

Janet, I've never been there but the flyer I picked up in Dr. Glas****'s office says that it's at Gateway Park on the corner of First Street and Main Street. Hope that helps.... Leslie

Here you go... Have you ever been in downton Cedar Falls? It's a whole 6 blocks long but hard to miss. I suspect that you will be coming in on highway 57. Just before you get to the business district you will cross a bridge & then come to a stop light. That is the intersection of 1st & main. At that corner turn right, away from the business district. There will be a bridge right away. Cross it & on your right will be the park. It's right by the river. Really easy to find. Don't worry about not having food. There will be plenty to go around so feel free to eat also. E-mail me at [email protected] & I will give you my cell number in case you have a problem finding the place or have questions. Before the new highway thingy it was off of greenhill or lonetree, or whatever....Like I said I am terrible with names....but isn't it kitty corner to hardees.....and the park that always floods?? Take Care jesi

Actually, Jesi, you're thinking of Island Park. This is a new park right downtown by the new bridges. And that Hardees is long gone. Dixie

Darnit.....learn something new everyday Since all the new highway stuff.......we never go thru CF anymore.....remember how you used to have to take lonetree and then go down main street to get to university avenue .........I am sure I can find it.....like you said....there isn't much downtown Thanks Jesi

Lynda, I read that anyone who has had gastric bypass can go, even though it's sort of a reunion for Dr. Glas****'s patients. It starts at 12:30 and is a potluck. We are supposed to bring one hot dish and one cold dish and your own drink and place setting (plates, silverware). You are also supposed to bring a BEFORE picture. I'm still not sure if I can go yet (I'll only be 10 days out so I might still be too sore) but I want to try. Leslie
