Crap!! I had my phone interview with the Mercy Center for Weight Loss today. Just as I thought, my insurance has an absolute restriction on any and all weight loss services. So now I have to wait until January before I can get a different plan. Oh well, I guess it's really not that bad as I don't have a 6 month history of physician supervised weight loss attempts. The only thing is my crappy insurance won't even cover office visits if it's for weight loss, so I'm stuck paying for office visits. I contacted my Dr office this afternoon and they want to know exactly what is meant by "physician supervised". Does this mean you have to actually see the dr or can I just go and weigh in and make sure it gets recorded on my chart? Does anyone know?

Morning Cindy, Am so sorry to hear this. Having to put off surgery has to be the worst thing we can be told. In the meantime set up an appt with your PC. Get a diet from him/her, make sure EVERYTHING is documented, your visits, blood work, weight etc. Have your PC write a letter why you need surgery, what risks you are at. Write one yourself of why you want surgery. Submit these when you have insurance papers submitted. Document your exercising, if you are on meds document those also, the cost why you are taking them etc. Even if insurance covers your meds find out the exact cost & get a print out & submit that with insurance papers also. If you are going to WW or Jenny Craig have joined the Y or Curves make sure all of this is documented as well. The more documentation you have the better off you will be when submitting your paper work for insurance. Good luck & keep us posted. Hugs Carolyn
