Red Lobster
I had a lot of trouble eating the first six months after surgery, so this last month, actual eating is a new thing to me. Well, yesterday was our daughter's 18th birthday and she wanted Red Lobster. I thought, great. I prepared for the night by eating lightly all day (mostly liquids).
OK, I did fantastic, and here is what I had, and it all stayed down, made me full (not sickly full) and I felt happy, happy, happy.
I started out with a margarita on the rocks to help me feel relaxed and ready to eat . Then I ate half of a ceasar salad. I could have eaten the whole salad easily, but I wanted to save room for the main meal, too. Then I slowly progressed on to my main meal, which consisted of shrimp scampi (my favorite food in the WORLD!), crab legs and steamed veggies. I was not tempted whatsoever to eat the rolls, even though I love them. I ended up eating several bites of my veggies, three of the shrimp and two of the crab legs. YUMMY! I ate more than half of my plate and it made me so happy to be able to eat, to be able to stop eating when it was time, and to feel good and not sick at all. Things are definitely looking up for me.
This is exactly how I hoped the surgery would turn out for me. That I can maintain a reasonable weight, eat small portions, not be sick all the time, and enjoy life again. Maybe that is going to happen now.
