I worked out today!!!!
I went to the gym for the first time since surgery today. And man do i feel GREAT!!!!
I walked about a mile on the treadmill with an incline, did the stair stepper for 5 minutes and then did some crunches and leg lifts with the weights. I only spent about 50 mins at the gym but I sweated!!!! I feel so much better. It's only Saturday and tomorrow morning I'm going to go again because I had more energy and I just felt better.
I just wanted to share this with everyone because exercise and quitting smoking are my two bad points that I really need to work on. My husband and I, as well as Kim, are quitting on Monday. Kim: we can do this!!!!!
I then spent some time in the pool relaxing and getting some sun. I just feel so much better. I CAN DO THIS!!!
Hugs to all,
Jen

Thats great Jen, keep up the good work! I look forward to being able to do that also. And congrats on quiting smoking. I quit 4 yrs ago and glad I did. I can't believe I smoked almost 3 pks aday! I feel better now. Are you going to use something to help you quit? I used the patches. Its good to have someone quit with you. You go girl! Cindy
Thank you so much Cindy! Yes I think I'll try the patches again. They're just so darn expensive!! I wish you could go to the gas station and buy one patch like you can a pack of smokes. Or one piece of Nicorette. One of my friends that I got to quit used the gum and she lives by it. I've tried everything from Zyban to the lozenges and back to the patch. I may try the gum this time.
Thanks for supporting me!! the first week will be the hardest. I'm just going to put all that energy into my exercise!!!
Hugs,
Jen
Keep up the good work, I was just thinking I need to head the the MAC tomorrow morning. I wish I had a pool in my back yard, I would be in there everyday. Sounds like you should have some good support while quitting smoking. What made me never want to smoke again was this old man at HY-VEE, I was standing behind him and thinking jeez this guy reeks , then I realized that was how I must smell to. I quit right then and there, and never had any cravings. I think that was the one way that was meant for me. Just find your way and you can do it.
Great job, Jen. You won't regret this at all & maybe it will be just the thing that will get you off the plateau, if that is still the problem. You will see the results on your body. Although the skin may not shrink as much as you hope those muscles will tighten up & look so good. And, by the way, congratulations for making it to the "onsies"! I remember how that felt.
Dixie
Thanks so much Dixie! I'm down to 196 as of this morning. I think my plateau is moving again but you're right...it's due to being more active. I'm no longer scared to tell people how much I weigh. I'm almost excited to tell people. I have gotten many compliments in the past week. I think I'm still losing inches. I just need to be more active. In a year or so, I'll think about plastic to get rid of some skin. Hopefully I won't have much! Thanks for all your support!!!
Hugs,
Jen
