B12 shots make you lose weight????

Okay so my husband works with this girl who had surgery done with Dr. G...as lots of us have! And he was talking to her about my plateau. She said that the B12 shot that she gets every month allows her to lose about 10 pounds. She looks forward to getting her shot because for some reason it doesn't allow her to gain and allows her to maintain a healthy weight. Have any of you heard of this? I take the Novartis vitamins for Bariatric patients and I was told that that was enough B12 but if the above is true then I will make the appointment now!!!! Thanks all!! I have no clue...but you are doing great....congrats on the onederland....I know it is 199lbs....not a lot of woman are excited to be at that weight.....but I remember the sheer JOY of 199lbs for me!!! you are doing great!!!! I cannot get the b12 shot My levels are fine with my supplements so doctor won't/insurance won't give em to me :cry: Oh well......but I have never heard of that weightloss from the shot either.....so who knows!!! Hi Jen, Your'e doing wonderfully and your plateu will end someday. I totally understand the frustration as I seem to be on a never ending one now. About the shot, ask Angela or Dr G at your appointment & then tell us. I doubt if it works but, boy, if it does, I'm making a beeline to my PCP for a shot (heck, maybe two!) I wonder if maybe she has more energy after getting the shot & is more active? Just a thought. Let us know what you find out. Dixie

Hi Jen I take a 1000mcg of B12 daily and I haven't had any problems with losing weight actually I am still losing pounds and inches. I am at 135 down from 300 and I am 15 months post op. How much B12 do you take daily? Have you tried the plataue diet? I don't know about B12 contributing to weight loss but aren't you coming up on your 6 month check up they'll do a B12 level on you. Mine was in a safe range so i continued the dose I have been on. Let us know if you end up getting the shot and it helps???? I know B12 levels can affect a persons mood etc on top of everything else it does. Hope you have a great 4th! Kim
