Please, Please, Please
Morning Elizabeth,
Honey could NEVER get tired of you posting, keep them coming I to am lucky that has a dr that checks for everything & keeps on top of things. Actually he's a PA but find he's been better than the dr's! I'm his first wls patient & he goes all out for research the same with fibro he's on top of that also. I have to go in next week for my blood work & will whisper the reminder in his ear Thanks for posting about it. I look at it this way what we learn & pass on to other's may save someone from going thru alot of pain. We learn from one another that's what is so great about this site.
How are you doing with your weight loss? Want you to know miss seeing you so talk to us more!
Hugs
Carolyn
The fibro has let up but can tell when the weather is going to change...it will always be with me but I think it's easier to deal with now.
Just a quick PS to this post, the test is for the Vitamin D - 3 level and if you are going to take supplements, be sure you get D - 3 as Cholecalciferol Don't know why, but this is appartently the only one that will work for us.
You can get quite a bit of D- 3 from the sun in about 10 - 15 minutes, WITHOUT sunscreen, it is the UV rays that help to make it, so glass blocks it too.
A book that I am reading and recomend, not necessarily for cover to cover reading, but for info, is "The UV Advantage" by Michael F. Holick, Ph.D., MD. I found this one at the Ames Library in the 613.193 HOL section.
Hope this helps someone else out.

HI Elizabeth,
I'm so glad you're feeling better. Why and how did they think to test for Vit D on you? I have been having allergic reactions to the sun since WLS surgery also. The PCP doesn't know, the dermatologist said "it's the 5 mg of prednisone you take causing it", the allergy doc won't/doesn't address it. I also have had to cut all dairy and beef out of diet. Really eating poorly right now, but don't have many options. I'm seeing a different allergy doc tomorrow morning, will try to ask about this. THANK YOU for posting. Sue
