Hi Laurie,
I have read a lot of stories in which the outcome is the same as yours, unfortunately that is a very sad thing but at the same time, your health and happiness is of the utmost importance. In order for you to be healthy, you had this surgery and he couldn't tolerate that fact that you became more sociable. Life goes on, you will be so much happier in the end. I know that I don't know you, I know that I probably shouldn't make an opinion on this subject but don't beat yourself up on it. Of course you have all the support in the world via this website, via the Iowa support through OH, and you are a survivor.
I wish you happiness, you will make it through it and I cannot say that it won't be hard. I am sure it will be. Good luck!
Tamara
Laurie,
I'm so sorry you're depressed honey!! Remember, you did this for YOU not for anyone else. As long as you made your feelings clear to him you cannot let his insecurities bring you down. Be true to yourself. Try getting out for a walk, you can clear your mind and it will make you feel better. Here's a ((hug)) for you and know that I am thinking of you.

Laurie-
I am a fairly new poster on the Iowa board, but I wanted to offer some support anyway. Going through a divorce is such a hard thing, especially since it appears that he really supported your decision to have WLS a couple of years ago.
WLS is such a life changing thing, and I don't think our significant others really know how much it is going to effect the relationship. I really love my fiance, but we have agreed to put off our wedding until after I have surgery and the weight starts to come off so that we know things are ok. I really worry about it sometimes. I want to be with him forever, but their are no guarantees.
Just hang in there. We will be here for you whenever you need us. And never forget that your new Mr. Right is out there somewhere, and he WILL find you.
Hugs,
Katie
So sorry to hear about your divorce. I hope you can get through this ok. Keep your chin up and try not to let this hinder your long term goals. You deserve to be and feel healthy. It is too bad that some cant handle the fact that you are doing this for a longer better healthier life but you should not feel guilty. Don't be ashamed to seek counseling for your depression. Good luck and remember they always say things happen for a purpose. We just sometimes cant figure out why.
Hi Laurie I am so sorry to hear about you and your divorce. Don't give up you should feel good about your self but as long as you didn't do anything wrong like cheating then you shouldn't feel bad to be more out going and make friends thats is all great so keep liking your self. I told my hubby I love him with all my heart but when I lose weight he better be ready to keep up with me lol because I am going to want to enjoy life and do things that I haven't done or never done and I want to do all that with him but if he becomes controling and dont trust in my love then he will be gone because a person that has been thin all their life doesn't understand how great it feels to a person that has suffered obesity for so long how we can go crazy and enjoy all that we can. keep your chin up and don't hide out stay strong enjoy life and I know it will be hard for you to divorce but time will get better soon and dont blame your self ok. enjoy. keep in touch with us we are here for you.

Well I'm so sorry Laurie. My husband went through a horrible divorce and his ex was very controlling. You have to keep your chin up and keep smiling. I mean, look at you!!! Look how far you've come! Don't give up and beat yourself up about this. What is meant to be, will be.
I will be thinking about you and if you ever need to talk, we're all right here.
Take care hon,

Biggggggg Hugsssssss Laurie
We ARE your support, we are here for you girlfriend! This ISN'T your fault remember that. I firmly believe that WLS is NOT the reason for divorce that there were other problems that maybe we failed to see OR maybe we denied they were there. Control freaks can go south & stay there!!! So thankful I dumped Katie's sperm donor & thankfully was never married to him. Block his emails & have returned letters & feeling much better about ME & my life. No more guilt for this chick. You do what you feel is right for YOU. You are a healthier person now & a happier one. Keep going on your walks which helps depression also, but you already know that. Take a trip to Jesi's! If I lived closer I would be knocking on her door! And keep up the dancing great exercise still think you need to visit me & give me lessons
Hugs
