Good morning everyone!! Sorry, I haven't posted in a while, the computer at home was having major problems. I'm almost 5 weeks post op and 34 pounds down. Not much tastes good, yet. When did you have a diet pop? I'm already tired of water and crystal light. Can't stand tea. Thanks for listening to me whine a little. LoriW

BE careful with carbonated beverages......my Dr told me no pop for 6 months. "You will get pains like you have never had before" he said. I admit that i tried it at 5 months out and I got a bloaty uncomfortable gassy feeling after a couple of swigs. Couldn't fini****I do drink and tolerate about 12 oz of diet soda a day now though but if has caffeine I am not allowed to count it as part of my liquid intake for the day (same with caff. coffee) Also heard that the phosphorus in pop depletes your calcium levels so I try not to drink any more than 1 can. I know that you say that you do not care for tea, does that mean flavored tea as well. I only ask because I like the sf raz and peach tea available and I do not care for regular tea either. Hey great job on your weight loss. 34 lbs is awesome for 5 weeks out. Sherri

I have been drinking diet pepsi and Pepsi One since about 4 months out. And have had no problems whatsoever. Not sure why. I have been drinking too much I am sure, but have not noticed any dehydration signs. I figure since pop is so much water, the caffine is not going to counteract all the water. And I am down 175 pounds since 12/6. But leveled off, so watching it. Just don't do regular pop, or you will kill your self on the calories.

I'm 14 mo out and still hardly ever have a pop. It's okay if I drink it over ice, but not right out of the can. At your stage I would on pop. That's a nasty habit to get into to. Have you tried doing kool aid with splenda. Its a different taste than CL alone. I've also mixed CL and kool aid together for different tastes. I have a problem doing straight lemonade, but like to mix CL lemonade with Tropical punch koolaide. Just a thought. Janie Good luck to you!!

Morning Lori I didn't start drinking pop til a year out. And just an occassional one is all I have. Personally I like the Advantage Chocolate Delight protein drink (Atkins) pre-mixed. Kind of pricey but hey I'm worth it! Remember though that pop will affect you now just the way it did before surgery as far as weight goes. Everyone's system is different. When I grab some water I'll put in some lemon juice just for a change. Or Hy-Vee is carrying True Lemon which is also sold on the site. I can't believe the way our taste buds change! How about some sugar free kool-aid? You aren't whining, this is something all of us can relate to Hugs Carolyn

The best person to ask is your surgeon.......what does he say?? We weren't allowed any pop for at least the first year.....when I did try a sip it hurt like the dickens......now 18 months or so out, I do drink it, but I am careful. I make sure it is always diet and caffeine free. There are tons of other juice options out there....wylers mixes are really good...they are at walmart and come like the CL...the strawberry is good, also miunte maid and tropicana both make juice that is only like 10-15 calories for big ole glasses.......minute maid also has 12 packs of non-carbonated juices that are good. UUUMMM get a big bag of splenda and buy all of your fave koolaid flavors and add splenda instead of sugar...that really helps break up the same ole' same ole'!! Kmart has flavored water that is not carbonated as does walmart also......uuummm a lot of folks like the sugar free tang....they say it is really good (I personally hate orange juice ) Well my brain is a little foggy this am....not enough coffee yet......so thats about all the help I can offer Best of luck Jesi and by the way on the 34lbs!!!

Thank you everyone for your responses. I won't see my surgeon again until 7/14, and definitely need something else to drink between now and then. I completely forgot about kool aid! I have even tried adding a little splenda to crystal light, but it's still the same to my taste buds. I believe I'll be picking up some kool aid after work. Thanks again!! LoriW
