Looking for good recipes
Hey all! We are having a BBQ on the 4th and I'm not yet 3 months out and I'm looking for healthy recipes for dishes that I can make. I want to stay away from sugar as much as possible because I haven't had much and I don't want to be dumping during the fireworks.
Any suggestions?
There is this website that someone told me to go to but I have forgotten it completely. She is on the message boards every now and then but I've also forgotten her name. I'm horrible!
thanks in advance
Jen
Green bean casseroles always are easy and WLS friendly.....salad.....baked beans.....deviled eggs...there was a really neat recipe for deviled eggs in a magazine....you squish the whole egg up and add the mayo and what not then roll the mixture into little balls the coat it in grated cheese....looked nummy Go to like Hyvee and get a few turkey tenderloins from the meat counter....they do good on the grill and stay moist enough for me to enjoy......I kinda have a picky pouch yet with BBQ..... Seven layer salad....the possibilities are endless....just have fun that is the best thing you can do....and of course keep your fluid intake up!!! For a good dessert.....My dearest buddy Andrea D. has come up with a yummy sugar free (mock) Cheesecake that is protien packed and YUMMY Take any ole pie crust and poke it with the fork and cook it.....or if you want to make your own squish up sugar free cookies and add butter for a cookie type crust.......take 2-3 packages of cream cheese....I use fat free and 1 1/3 less fat ....squi**** all up with some splenda and almond extract....fill up the pie crust......then top it with fresh fruit...whatever you like.....I like blueberries with crusehd pineapple......Andrea made a great one this weekend with rasberries and blueberries....looked very 4th of July ;) use what you like....and then heat up a couple tablespoons of sugarfree jam/jelly Andrea uses apricot I like blackberry.....when it is really runny add a dab of almond extract and then pour it over the cheesecake...use a little or as much as you like, but when you refrigerate it, it turns into a really nice looking/tasting glaze.........ANYWAYS it is way yummy and pretty guilt free for a dessert....plus people who haven't had the surgery will love it also....it is hard to keep the family out of it sometimes!!!!! Have fun jesi
