Need your prayers..

Today has been the worst day so far for me as far as being nervous and anxious about my upcoming surgery next Friday. I am on medicaid and they have approved me with a spendown. I realized that their amount they wanted me to pay is far less than what an insurance deductible would be, and on top of that the spendown can include any paid or unpaid medical bills. Thankfully my dr office and the hospital are working with me on paying those bills. My dilema is that I ended up back out at the emergency room last tuesday night due to my asthma. I've been frantically trying to figure out what that bill is now so I can add it to the amount I KNOW I have met with my spendown. I was told it could take the ER doc two to three weeks to get their share added in and then it will all be submitted to medicaid. I'm afraid that my surgeons office will just go with the amount that they got the last time they called medicaid and will not add the new amount into it and I'll have to come up with three times the amount rather than the 2 or 300 that I have calculated. My calculations are all based on what the hospital has told me and also medicaid. Sorry I'm just so frustrated right now and can't get ahold of anyone at my surgeons office besides a voice mail.. I know this probably didnt' make a lot of sense for alot of you but I mostly just needed to vent!!!!! and ask for prayers.. Thanks Tracie S.. 8 days and counting..

Deep breath girlfriend. This too shall pass. Just make sure your surgeon's office knows that there have been more medical expenses incurred besides his. I have no experience with Medicaid but most docs will work with you. Seems like there is a lot of medical office incompetance and rudeness going around tho. I can't quite figure that out. After all, if it weren't for us patients, where would they be???? Everything will be okay. You will soon be on the losing side! I called Kathy back at the business office out at the hospital to tell her that Brenda (from my surgeons office) told me they won't take another figure besides what Medicaid gives them. I asked Kathy if there was someone I could call or light a fire under to get the Dr to send his bill to the billing office so we can get this all submitted. She says, "I'll leave myself a note, call medical records in the morning and explain the situation to them and I should be able to get it for you. Call me back around 1:00pm tomorrow and I should have an answer for you as to when I will get the info." Now how many times do you run into someone actually offering to help you with something like this. NOT VERY! I told her why I was so on top of finding this information out, because I was going to have surgery in Grinnell. She asked me "May I ask what type of surgery you are having" I told her and she told me she had tried to have it but some things came up and she couldn't. Maybe that's why she's trying so hard to get this info for me. What an awesome lady. So I will know more after 1 today.. Thanks Lyn for listening.. Tracie S.. 7 days n counting..

Morning Tracie, Go to the hospital billing dept & get a copy from them on what the cost is. then take it to your dr. Let them know that you NEED this RIGHT AWAY. Usually billing is pretty good about doing this or they are around here I should say. Keeping you in my thoughts & prayers. And agreeing with Lyn, take a deep breath.. Hugs Carolyn

I updated what I found out on my profile but after I was done it was so late last night I didn't think about updating on the Iowa board. I posted what else I found out yesterday on this same thread..
