New to this forum...

Hi All- I usually post in the duodenal switch forum, but I thought it would be nice to meet some Iowa WLS people. This board seems to be way more active than the OSSG-Iowa-Nebraska yahoo group. Just a little backround on me...I am interested in having duodenal switch surgery with Dr. Gary Anthone in Omaha, and I have my first consult with him on Wednesday. I have BCBS of Iowa PPO, and will probably have to fight to have this surgery since they exclude it from their policy. And if I don't manage to win, I will probably resolve to have gastric bypass with the famous Dr. Coster here in Grinnell. I am originally from Marshalltown, but currently reside in Grinnell with my fiance. Anyway, that's my story... Katie cw / gw / bmi / ht 350 175? 54 5'8"

Welcome abord Katie.. Everyone is so very friendly here as you will find. I am having open RNY on the 24th of June.. 19 days and counting.. Dr Coster is excellent! Hope your journey goes smoothly.. *huggs* Tracie S

Hi Katey,welcome on board!They told me when I got here to get ready for the ride cuz sometimes it can get bumpy....boy can it!! I am glad to hear you are ready to fight for it..you might have to!I did and won!! Waiting on a Dr.change approval(the Doc I started with quit) .so i have to start with a new one,I am going to Dr.White in Omaha.I was promised that part should be done this week then hopefully things will go fast!Hopefully!!I have learned not to count on to much when dealing with insurance pple,lol!!!So keep on them and good luck..I am told and can see that the wait for that end result is well worth it!!
