insurance trouble
I have John Deere insurance. Once Dr. Costers office sent all of my records and letters from my pcp and Dr. Coster, it took me less than a week to be approved. What kind of problems are you running into? I also work in a Dr's office maybe I can help. Alot will depend on your individual plan how it was set up with your employer and how the actual policy reads.
first i was told that my employer did not elect this coverage and then when i spoke with my hr department they said that they were told that john deere just plain does not cover this procedure anymore, yet on there web site i was able to print their criteria for being medically needed procedure, when i called a third time, was again told that their is no benifit for procedure, so i emailed asking for a form to appeal the decision and was told to have my doctor resubmit the claim.
Do you have any medical records documenting any attempts at weight loss programs? Has your Dr. sent a referal letter to JD? Do you have any medical problems that are related to being over weight? The more information you can send the better your chances at getting approved.
The insurance lady at Dr. Costers office first told me I would be denied because I had not sent enough documentation and I did not really have any medical problems related to being over weight. I also have a horrible family history of diabetes and heart disease. I think that helped in my approval also. Like I said do as much research as you can as far as med. records and family history. Call JD and ask them to send you a print out of the requirements needed to qualify for WLS. Then request a copy of your med records from your PCP and go through and pick them apart. Then send as much as you can to JD. Good luck and keep us postedL
i have over a year of documented wieght loss attempts as well as couseling from a dietician. i am also diabetic . my doctor has sent the referal and i have seen the dietician at the bariatric center as well as the physcologist. i am fortunate that i have two different insurance plans, JHD is my primary though and they just seem to be fighting saying that they simply dont offer this type of coverage.I am taking 3 differnet medications each day for my diabetis and and another medication for a thyroid problem, and have a long history of heart, blood preasure and diabetic problems in my family, dont see that in the long run, this is cost effective than paying for medication for the next 30 years and all of the medical expenses that i will undoubtedly incure during that time being over weight. I plan on having the surgery whether they approve or not since i have another insurance but i also plan of fighting this decision as long as i can. to limit my out of pocket expense.
Wow you have certainly done your homework! I cannot imagine that they would not approve you. Definately a perfect case to appeal until they give. It really gets me that we pay a premium each month but they still get to dictate what we can and cannot have done. Sorry I could not be of more help to you.
