I'm back!
Howdy everyone!! I want to thank you all for the words of encouragement and well wishes while I've begun my journey. They definitely helped. 
My surgery on the 25th went smoothly. Don't remember much from the time I laid down on the operating table until seomtime the next day when they moved me from ICU (precaution since I have sleep apnea) to my regular room. I'm home recovering. Not a lot of pain, just sore, unless I cough or sneeze, that's the worst. 
Seems like all I do is sip, walk, sip, eat, sip, walk, sip...I'm sure you all know what I mean. Already tired of pureed food. But know it's all part of healing and recovery and getting used to eating small amounts. I've been eating crushed ice, just to have something to crunch, when I feel the need. I go back to Grinnell tomorrow to get my staples out. YIPEEE!!
