I Feel Like Giving Up :- ( But I wont...I went the Dr. In Council Bluffs today to start my weightloss It seemed like everything was going ok.He said he wants me to go to the Orientation Thursady night & then I will check in once a week either Tuesday or Thursday, I was like ok & he continued, We just sarted a new program here its called Health Management Resources (HMR) is the leading provider of medically supervised weight management programs in the U.S. and is geared toward those who want to lose a significant amount of weight (over 30 pounds). Healthy Images offers these services in addition to other programs geared toward those with lesser weight loss needs... I was like ok kewl...Its a medically supervised diet,This option uses low-calorie or very low-calorie diet to promote significant weight loss under medically supervision, using only nutritionally complete HMR weight loss shakes and entrees instead of grocery store food. This is the easiest diet to follow, as it requires no decisions whatsoever about what to eat... Features are:Screening,Weekly Classes with Individual Coaching,Maintenance Phase,HMR Risk Factor Profile,And then he said it will a weekly cost for the shakes & food...Whoa Nellie!I tried to explain to him I could not afford it...He seemed like he didnt care,Well HECK I DO!!! I called my surgeons office & talked to Fawn & im still going to go to the 1st orientation & then voice my opion once again...I looked it up online and boy thier stuff is expensive...I just dont know what to do...Thats why I said I felt like giving up :- ( Thanks for listening Janelle

Morning Janelle, Is this his requirement in order to have surgery? If it isn't then you aren't obligated to do this. And there are other dr's out there as well. DON'T GIVE UP! He can't force you to get into this, you can always get a nutritionist & be followed that way also. There is no way I could afford to do those kind of diets. VOICE YOURSELF! Keep us posted. Hugs Carolyn

They have a program like that at one of our local hospitals.....WAY SPENDY! Tell him you are there for a supervised weightloss charting....BUT you do not have the money for the shakes and stuff....you are just there for nutrtional advice and documentation!!!! Don't give up.........and if they insist on you using there program it is not the place for you....just go to a regular doctor and tell them you need a supervised diet documented and that you need to come in weeekly-biweekly to be weighed and charted.......Good luck.....Take Care Jesi

Dont give up.....Dont ever give up. You took such a major step getting this far. I wouldnt be able to afford the shakes and thier foods either. I dont think they can MAKE you do it. I would maybe call the dr and talk to his nurse or something.....or find someone else. That is just crazy!! Fight! Fight! Fight! Billie Jo

Janelle, I'm really sorry to hear all this. I am a former patient of Dr. Rogers, he did my surgery. At that time there was no program, he sent me to family doc to determine if I needed any pre-op testing, did the surgery, and no follow up. I tried to send you an email, please don't let them do this to you. My opinion would be to find another surgeon. I know you don't want to start over, but I've had ulcers and my bowel quit working after my surgery and the doc sent me a certified letter stating he would no longer see me and I was to not EVER go to an Alegent facility for any reason. I truly think the last vist you had with him is closer to the real man. Fawn seems nice and tells you whatever you want to hear. PLEASE be careful. I've lost 175# but I have NO quality of life. ((((HUGS)))) Sue
