Looking for a plastic surgeon
I had my TT done by Dr Deniz Bastug in Waterloo and will be seeing him on the 1st to talk about my thighs. I am very happy with the results of the TT. My tummy is very flat & tight as a drum- no kidding!
Obviously Waterloo is quite a ways to go. I imagine there are some in the DM area who are just as good. Just be sure to go to a Board Certified Plastic Surgoen. They will do a much better job and have the extra training that is required to be certified.
Of course, the ones that are considered among the best in the business are the two who used to be in Iowa city. They now practice in Coralville, Dr Craun & Aly

I too was told to go to Dr. Aly, he is formerely with UIHC .....but as far as I know he no longer takes insurance.....cash only, and well that isn't an option for me......There are a lot of great plastic surgeons who are board certified in Davenport too......might wanna check them out! Take Care and good luck.....I myself have also just started the plastics journey..I have my approval.....now just need to schedule it Jesi
How do you determine when it's time? I'm 15 months post-op, have lost 90 lbs, but have not lost any weight for about 5 months. I'm still 40 lbs from my goal weight. I'm wondering if I had the TT that losing the extra skin would bring me closer to my goal weight?? Or is there still 40 lbs of fat??? Barb
Barb,
Every PS is different. Some want you at goal for several months. Others realize that some may never get to goal and are willing to do it if you are at a stable weight for several months. That's how it was for me. Obviously, the results are better if you have no more to lose but my results are pretty darn good & I have another 25 or so lbs to lose. As a matter of fact, I asked about losing more after the surgery & he told me that I can lose 25 or so & it won't show on the tummy. Even if I lose more it will just be a bit flabby, not quite as tight anymore but nothing like it was.
By the way, I had 6 lbs removed but because I had to be so inactive for over a month (back to work after 2 weeks) I found that I put almost that much back on. It's back off again now & then some but don't expect to lose a whole lot. It's deceptive how little that much flab weighs. I had lost 160 lbs. If you would like to see photos to kind of compare the size of our tummys, you can see it at kodakgallery.com/BrowsePhotos.jsp?&collid=268223953203&page=1&sort_order=0. This is a scrapbook I made of the experience.
