I called today and recieved my official date. June 24th. There's only one thing I'm concerned with and that's the carbon monoxide test. I did quit smoking but I take care of my mother everyday who smokes like a chimney. I explained that to the nurse today but she simply said if my carbon monoxide level is to high they won't do it. So I guess I'll just have to wait and see. If it's meant to be it will be. Please pray for me. My mother is on the verge of dying and there's no way I could ever ask her to quit smoking while I'm there. So if I have to wait until she's gone to have the surgery then I will. I'm just praying every day that my levels will be down and everything will go as planned.. Tracie

Morning Tracie First of all congrats on your date. Sorry to hear about your mom, it has to be hard being happy & sad at the same time. I think the dr's office should take into consideration the exposure of smoke. I'm a smoker also. I would think your levels would go down since you quit. Talk to the surgeon & explain what is going on. Bypass that nurse, it's his decision on surgery not her's. Good luck to you Carolyn

Thats just around the corner for ya!! Congrats! When you are at your moms.....try and crack a few windows and sit by them......or just let her know you shouldn't be breathing the smoke and step outside every once in awhile! You don't have to ask her to quit....but since the fact is she is sick.....and she is your mom.....I am sure she wants you to get healthy and if the surgery is the answer I am sure she won't be offended if you have to step outside for fresh air!! Good luck I am wishing you the best! Take Care Jesi

Congrats on your surgery date. That's just around the corner. Sorry to hear about your mother though. That's gotta be rough. As far as the smoking goes I too went to surgical assoc but had Dr Eibes and when he told me about being smoke free for 3 months prior to surgery I explained that I had quit but was around 2nd hand smoke alot. He said they would be able to tell by the test if my level was due to me smoking or if 2nd hand. I dont even know when I was tested if I even was. I had my surgery on 030305 and I also had severe sleep apnea and had no problems with my breathing. Good luck and I will say a prayer for you and your mom. Best wishes -- Patty

Woohoo!! Congrats on getting a date. Yours is exactly a month after mine. Dr Coster is my surgeon, also. I really feel comfortable with him. I'll be saying my prayers for you too that your levels will be down and surgery go smoothly! LoriW
