Mercy
I had surgery at Mercy on Jan. 4. Great place to go! The telephone interview is the first thing. You will then have several other appointments to make. Psychiatrist, nutritional lecture, nurse lecture at the office, surgeon visit, visit to sleep doctor and a sleep study if you haven't already done that. If you are found to have sleep apnea, you will have to sleep with CPAP machine at least a month before they will consider even getting approval from your insurance. They will help you with all of those. Good luck! You are going to a great place for pre and post surgery care. I have been very happy and also successful. I am now down 67 pounds just by following their rules.
I am happy to answer any other questions you may have about the Mercy program.

Everything that Mary said is right. I had my phone interview on April 25th. The lady set me up with an appointment with Dr Smolik for May 11th. She told me that someone from the sleep center would be calling me. They called on April 26th and the first available time they had was May 30th and then you have to meet with the sleep doctor and they didn't have anything open until June 15th. It is a long process but I have heard really good things about Mercy's program. Good luck in your journey.
Melissa,
Be prepared for a wild ride.
Your appts may take awhile but, after all is said and done, it happens faster than you think.
Dr Fleugel at sleep center is a hoot
You'll like her.
I am 1 week post-op. I also went to Mercy Capital. Dr Smolik is great.
My process started on Jan 30, 05. Susan, is great as are all the ppl at MC for WR. You picked the best!
Hang on....it is the best thing. Good luck and keep smiling.
My thoughts and best wishes are with you.

Hi!
I'm new to the boards and considering surgery and Mercy for my hospital of choice. How long did ya'lls process take? I mean from frist seeing your PCM until your actual date, I've heard people say 6 months to a year. I plan on going to the informational meeting May 14th. I'm just curious..
Thanks!
