In a lot of pain...

Hey all! Had my surgery done 2 and a half weeks ago and this weekend has been horrible. My incisions feel like they are weighing me down. Literally. Underneath them they are very VERY tender and the only things that stop the pain are laying down flat on my back or pushing on them. Did anyone have this problem? Should I be calling the doc? I do have a very large deep bruise on one of them and they told me it was probably from popping an internal stitch. But now for the pain to be moving laterally across my stomach...is this right? I'm just so tired of being in pain and I go back to work on Wednesday and I have NO idea how I'm going to sit comfortably all day. Please help if you can!! Many thanks!!! Hugs but painfully, Jen

Oh, Jen, gentle hugs going your way (((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))) I take it you had lap surgery? Well, I had open, so don't really have much to compare with you. I guess that I would just be concerned that something isn't healing right. Do you have redness to go along with the tenderness? Does is feel like maybe there is an infection? My suggestion always is that if you question something, call your surgeon's office - better safe than sorry. Besides, you don't want to go back to work still in pain. Can you take a bath yet? Maybe that will help? Hang in there, hon. God bless, Andrea

Hi Andrea! Yea, took a bath last night. Everything seems to be okay until I go to sit down or walk. then this pain just rips across my tummy. It's just very frustrating. I'm going to call the doc today...thank you for your kind words! I'll keep you posted! Hugs, Jen

Jen, Call the office, even if it is Sunday. It may be something really minor but it may not be. Don't take chances. Have you tried a heating pad? I found that some heat really was soothing when I was swollen. Just be sure it isn't too hot. I'll be thinking of you & hope you feel better really soon. Dixie

Hey Dixie...I'm going to call them today. I have used my heating pad since day one home. Then I tried ice because heat wasn't soothing when I stood up so I started alternating. I have a bunch of little ice packs in the freezer now too. I did take a bath last night and everything helps until I stand up or sit down. Then this pain just comes across my tummy. So I push on it and hold my belly when I walk and it temporarily soothes. I'm just so confused! I thought I'd be much better by now and I was doing so good until about 2 days ago. I'll let you know what they say! Thanks Dixie! Jen

Hey Janelle - thanks hon! I haven't called the Dr's office because my aunt told me that it's my internal incisions and nerves trying to heal. It just sucks that it pinches so bad. I just hate to bother them with a stupid question and the drive is hideous - I'd hate to do it and them tell me that it's just tissue healing. So here I sit and wait for the pain to stop. Thanks for your advice and if it gets worse, I'll call them! Hugs, Jen

jen, I had lap surgery back in October and i had very similar pains. I am sorry to say mine hurt for about a month after surgery. The doctor's office said that that area where it mainly hurts ( the pain was mainly around one bigger incision on my left and would move across my stomach towards my belly button). That is the incision that the surgeon worked out of, so they said that one will be last to heal. and it was..but i am doing great now..no problems whatsoever and down 114 lbs. So hang in there...it will get better!!! Kris
