First Step...
Hello!!
I took my first step just now. I am so excited and scared. I finally called my GP to get an appt to talk to him about my weight. I tried to before but chickened out sooo many times. I just feel embarassed about talking to him about it. I talked to a different dr about it about 3 years ago...and he just brushed me off. I dont know how he could do that! I was 250 at the time. Like he couldnt see that I was having a problem! He told me to join WW. Grrrrr...angers me now.
Well, I did join WW a couple of years later....I lost 20 lbs.....that was good...but then didnt go any farther. And i was on it for 10 mos! I tried so hard......I got sick of paying them so I could gain weight. I figured I could do that for free! lol
My appt to see my GP is this Wednesday at 10:00...I will post again and let every one know what the Dr. says. I want to make sure I dont have a thyroid condition or something else. I want surgery to be my last option....although I think that it is. Hopefully he will recommend someone for the surgery when it comes time.
Wish me luck....I hope he doesnt make me feel stupid.
Any one have any ideas on questions I should ask him as this is my first step? Any help at all would be wonderful.
This site is a true godsend....

Hi Billie Jo!
I'm exactly where you are... I'm signed up for the seminar in a couple of weeks - before I see my Dr. LOL Only because she is currently out on maternity leave. My plan is to go to the seminar, find out everything that I can and then take that info to my Dr next month. I have my appt with her set - her first available one!
My big problem is, I've only seen this Dr one other time... my other dr left a year ago - the one that has followed my weight problems. That's where most of my anxiety comes from... Luckily, the one time that I did see this Dr, it was totally weight related and at that visit, she told me that we would adjust my thyroid medication, see where that got us and then "discuss other options". So I'm hopeful!
Good Luck - we'll stick it out together!

Yikes! My repuation proceeded me! What ever she has told you about me....is probably all true! hehe. Yes, you do work with her. I remember here telling me about someone at work who was going to have this done.
I havent said anything to her about doing this....just because she has enough to worry about with her hubbys hip replacement this week. Feel free to tell her you "met" me
