APPROVED BY INSURANCE!
Wow, I guess they're right when they say watch what you wish for, eh? I have a BMI of 37 (yes, with co-morbidities) and have fought with my weight my entire teen and adult life. I have tried literally hundreds of diets and although I have lost weight at some time or another, I have always gained it back to only feel like a complete failure. I know 13 people who have had the surgery and everyone has said they'd do it again - even with the complications they had. I know I need to keep focused on that and try to remain positive. I am happy and scared at the same time. My thoughts waft literally second-to-second about what to do, why am I doing this, I need it, I don't need it, I'll be fine, I could die.....etc. I'm driving myself nuts.
I am calling the center to get a date tomorrow so I can just get it over with and get it all out of my head. I know so much about this surgery, I could probably assist Dr. Cahalan in it! It's not my rational side that's giving me problems, it's the scared little fat girl who I want to cut out that is pitching the b**ch! LOL
Did you all feel this way or did the psych Dr. make a mistake in approving me? hee hee

Hi LoriW, CONGRATULATIONS to you too! When is your surgery scheduled for and where are you having it? I just got my date - MAY 2nd! WOW, I can't believe it's so soon! They wanted to do it this coming week but I have some ends I need to tie up first. Im scared and happy at the same time!! How are you feeling?
Dear Dawn:
Congratulations on your approval !!! It is perfectly normal to go through all the feelings you are having!! I remember when I was in the holding area just before surgery, I almost ran out of there!!! You just have to look at the reasons why you're having the surgery, and know that you NEED this surgery to improve your health!!! It is scary, but dying of obesity related diseases is even scarier!!! You will be so glad you did it!! I am 1 year post op, and have lost 127 lbs. I have absolutely no regrets, it is the best thing I have ever done for myself!! Hang in there, soon you'll be on the losing side!!! DeeAnn
Thank you so much DeeAnn. I have a feeling I will feel just like you in the holding area. I can be such a baby when it comes to medical stuff - and this one is a biggie! You have such a great outlook on it - and you are SO right so I will keep that in mind and constantly remind myself why I am doing it. It's a medical procedure to get me healthy! You have done fantastic! Congrats to you girl! I hope to be on the losing side VERY soon! My date is May 2nd, whoo hoo!

Hi Jennifer. Thank you for the response. I am having conflicting thoughts too and everyone I know says it is normal. Also, the people who I know who have had it done all said they would not change a thing. They're all doing great and I am SO ready to be healthy and buying comfortable clothes soon. My date is May 2nd. They wanted to do it this coming week but I was like - WHOA! lol I have stuff to do yet! hee hee Keep going and stay positive. You will get your approval soon!!! - Dawn
